Introduction
There are a few reasons why your Apple Watch may not be connecting to your iPhone. One possibility is that your iPhone and Watch are not close enough to each other. Another possibility is that Airplane Mode is turned on on either your iPhone or Watch. If you’re using your Apple Watch with cellular, make sure that Cellular Data is turned on for watch app on your iPhone, and that your carrier supports cellular service for your Apple Watch. You can also try restarting both your devices, and making sure that both devices have the latest version of iOS.
Restart Your Devices
If you can’t connect to your Apple Watch, first make sure that both your iPhone and your watch are turned on and in Bluetooth range of each other. If that doesn’t fix the issue, try restarting your devices:
-Press and hold the side button on your Apple Watch until you see the Power Off slider.
-Drag the slider to turn off your watch. After your watch turns off, press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo.
-On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Shut Down. After your iPhone turns off, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
Check for System Updates
If you’re using an iPhone 6s or later, you need to have iOS 13 or later installed to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone.
1. Make sure that your iPhone and watch are close to each other.
2. Check that your iPhone has a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
3. Check that Airplane Mode is off on both your iPhone and watch, and that Do Not Disturb is off on your watch.
4. Check that both devices have Bluetooth turned on:
On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap Bluetooth and make sure that the switch is turned on.
5On your watch, open the Settings app, then tap Bluetooth and make sure that the switch is turned on.
Check Your Bluetooth Connection
If you’re having trouble getting your Apple Watch to connect to your iPhone, it’s likely because of a problem with your Bluetooth connection. Here are a few things you can try to get things working again.
First, make sure that both your iPhone and your Apple Watch are powered on and in range of each other. If you’re not sure how far apart they can be and still stay connected, check the manufacturer’s specifications.
Next, try restarting both your devices. This will often refresh the connection and allow the two devices to communicate with each other properly.
If that doesn’t work, try unpairing and then re-pairing your devices. This process will remove the existing connection between them and allow you start fresh. To do this on your iPhone, open the Settings app and go to the Bluetooth menu. Here, you’ll see a list of all the devices that are paired with your iPhone via Bluetooth. Tap the “i” icon next to the device you want to unpair, then tap “Forget This Device.”
On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app and go to the Bluetooth menu. Tap on the device you want to unpair, then tap “Forget This Device.”
Once you’ve unpaired your devices, restart both of them again. Once they’re back on, pair them together once more following the instructions in Apple’s support document: Pair Your Apple Watch with Your iPhone.
