Check if your device is compatible
First, check to see if your device is compatible with Apple Pay. If you have an iPhone 6 or later, you use apple pay use apple pay with your iPhone, you need iOS 11.2 or later. If you’re using an iPad, you need iPadOS 13.2 or later.
If you’re using a Mac, you need macOS Sierra 10.12.2 or later and apple watch with watchOS 3 or later. You also need to set up Apple Pay on your iPhone before you can use it on your Mac.
If you have an iPhone X or later, you use apple pay with Face ID. If you have an iPhone 8 or earlier, you use apple pay with Touch ID.
Check if you have the latest version of iOS
If you have an iPhone 6 or later, the latest version of iOS is required.
Open the Settings app, then tap General > About. If an update is available, you’ll see an option to update your carrier settings.
Check if you have the latest version of watchOS
If you have apple watch make sure that it has the latest version of watchOS. To do this, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and go to My Watch > General > Software Update.
If there’s an update available, follow the onscreen instructions to install it. Once your software is up to date, try using Apple Pay again.
Check if you have the latest version of macOS
One of the first things you should do if your Apple Pay isn’t working is to check and see if you have the latest version of macOS. To do this, click on the Apple icon in the top left-hand corner of your screen and then select “About This Mac.” From there, click on the “Software Update” button and see if there are any updates available for your computer. If there are, make sure to install them.
Check if you have the latest version of tvOS
If you have an Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation), make sure that your television is running tvOS 11.2 or later. For other Apple TV models, your television must be running tvOS 10.3 or later. To check the version of tvOS on your television:
Open the Settings app.
Go to System > About.
Look under Version for the tvOS version number.
If you need to update your software, go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
If you don’t see an update available, it means that you’re already running the latest version of tvOS.
Check your internet connection
If you’re using Apple Pay in a store, make sure that you’re connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network. If you can’t connect to a cellular or Wi-Fi network, try using Apple Pay in another store.
If you’re using Apple Pay in an app or on a website, make sure that you have a strong internet connection. If you can’t connect to the internet, try using Apple Pay later.
Check if you have set up Apple Pay
If you’re having trouble using Apple Pay, start by making sure that it’s set up correctly on your device.
First, open the Settings app and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
Next, make sure that Apple Pay is turned on.
If you’re using iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to see your most recently used apps. If you don’t see Wallet, open it from the App Store.
Then try using Apple Pay again.
Check if you have a supported credit or debit card
Make sure that you have a supported credit or debit card from a participating card issuer in your Wallet.
Apple Pay works with most credit and debit cards from major card issuers. Just add your participating cards to Wallet and you’ll continue to get all the rewards, benefits, and security of your cards.
If you’re not sure which cards in Wallet are compatible with Apple Pay, contact your card issuer for more information.
Check if you’re using the right card reader
If you’re trying use apple pay at a store that doesn’t support it, you’ll need to use a different payment method. Look for one of these symbols at checkout:
If you’re using Apple Pay in an app and you get an error, check the app’s terms and conditions. You might need to:
-Use a different card
-Update your card information in the Wallet app
-Contact your bank or card issuer
