How to Update Your Apple Phone

It’s easy to update your iPhone, iPad, ipod touch to the latest version of iOS wirelessly. If you can’t see the update on your device, you can update manually using iTunes.

Updating the iOS

It is always recommended by Apple to keep your iPhone up-to-date with the latest iOS software update. Not only will this ensure that your phone is running properly, but you will also have access to the latest features and security patches. Updating your iOS is quick and easy, and can be done wirelessly.

Check settings app to see if there’s an update available

Open settings app
Tap General, then tap Software Update.
If an update is available there will be an active Update button. If not, you are already running the latest version of iOS.

Connect your device to your computer

Make sure your Mac is running the latest version of macOS.

Connect your device to your computer. If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow the prompts.

If you see a prompt about allowing access to information on your device, tap Allow or Always Allow.

Open iTunes and select your device

Open iTunes and select your device. Click Summary, then click Check for Update.

Click Download and Update. If prompted, enter your passcode. If a message asks temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel.

To update now, tap Install. Or you can tapLater and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your iOS device into power before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.

1. Plug in your device to a power source and connect to Wi-Fi.
2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
3. Tap Download and Install. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel.
4. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just connect your device to a power source before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.
5. If asked, enter your passcode.
6. If prompted, agree to the Terms and Conditions.
7. Wait for the download to complete, then tap Install or Install Now when asked if you want to restart your device to finish installation of iOS 11 (or whatever version is shown). Connect your device to a power source so that it doesn’t run out of battery during the installation process as this will restart your phone if it does turn off during this process..

Click Download and Install

When the iOS update appears, it will be available to download and install. Just tap on Download and Install. Depending on the size of the iOS update, it could take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to download and install. The time it takes will depend on your internet connection speed. Once the iOS update has been downloaded and installed, you’ll see a message confirming that your software is up to date.

Updating Apps

One of benefits of having an Apple iPhone is that you can update your apps whenever new versions come out. This means that you always have the latest and greatest features that the app developers have to offer. Updating your apps is easy and only takes a few minutes.

Tap Updates in the App Store

Open the App Store, then tap Today at the bottom of the screen.
Tap your profile icon or picture at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to see pending updates and release notes.

To update apps, you need an Internet connection.

Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All.

6. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just connect your device to a power plug before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight if it’s connected to Wi-Fi and a power plug.
