How to Unpair Your Apple Watch

Learn how to unpair apple watch from your iPhone so you can set it up with a new iPhone, or restore it to factory settings.

Open watch app on your iPhone.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone. Tap the watch tab then tap All Watters > your watch. Tap the information button next to your watch, then tap apple watch For GPS + Cellular models, you must also turn off Activate Siri, and to prevent it from reactivating, turn off Automatic Downloads.

Tap the watch tab

On your iPhone, open the Watch app. Tap the My Watch tab. Scroll to the bottom tap unpair apple watch For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan. If you want to keep your plan, tap Keep Plan.

Enter your password, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Tap Erase All.

Scroll to the bottom and tap the apple watch button.

When you unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone, your content stays on your watch. You can back up your Apple Watch content before you unpair, then restore the content after you pair with a new iPhone.

If you can’t back up or restore, or if you have a series 1 or series 2 watch that doesn’t use watchOS 3, you need to erase your content and settings before you sell, give away, or trade in your Apple Watch.

Here’s how to unpair:
1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
If prompted for a password, enter it.
3. Tap Erase watch content and settings to confirm.

Tap Unpair [your Apple Watch] to confirm.

On your iPhone, open the Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Unpair [your Apple Watch].

Tap Unpair [your Apple Watch] to confirm.
