How to Unpair Your Apple Watch and Pair It With a New Phone

If you’re switching from an iPhone to an Android device, you’ll need to unpair apple watch and pair it with your new phone. Here’s how to do it.

Open watch app on your old iPhone.

Open the Watch app on your old iPhone.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap the info button next to your watch.

For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan. If you keep your plan, you can reuse it with your new iPhone. Just set up your new iPhone and restore it from a backup.
Enter apple id password, then tap Turn Off.
If you turned off Activate On This iPhone, enter your password again, then tap Deactivate.

Tap the My Watch tab.

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab. Then tap your watch at the top of the screen and tap the info button next to it. Tap Unpair Apple Watch. For GPS + Cellular models, you’ll need to contact your carrier for help with unpairing.

If you backed up your watch before you unpaired it, you can restore it from a backup.

It’s easy to unpair your Apple Watch and pair it with a new iPhone. Just follow these steps:

1. Tap your watch at the top of the screen.
2. Tap the My Watch tab.
3. Tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
4. Enter your passcode if prompted, then tap Erase All to confirm.
5. Once the process is complete, your Apple Watch will restart and you’ll be prompted to pair it with your new iPhone.

Tap the info button next to the watch that you want to unpair.

On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen. Scroll down and tap the info button next to the watch that you want to unpair. If you don’t see an info button, your watch doesn’t support unpairing from your iPhone.

Tap Unpair Apple Watch, then tap again to confirm. After you unpair, your Apple Watch will no longer receive notifications or phone calls from your iPhone. It can still be used with Siri and to track fitness activity, but you’ll need to set it up again as if it were a new watch.

If you’re no longer using your iPhone, you can unpair your Apple Watch from it so that you can pair with a new iPhone. When you unpair, your Apple Watch will back up automatically to your iPhone, then erase itself.
When you’re ready to set up your new iPhone and pair with your Apple Watch, put it near your iPhone. A message will say that your Apple Watch is in range of your new iPhone. Tap Continue on your iPhone, then tap Restore from Backup. Make sure that you connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi before start the restore process. Then follow the instructions on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Here’s how to pair your Apple Watch with a new iPhone:

1. Put your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch.
2. Open the Apple Watch app on your new iPhone.
3. Tap “Start Pairing” and hold your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch.
4. Wait for a message on your Apple Watch that says “Tap to confirm.”
5. Tap the message, then enter your passcode on your new iPhone if prompted.

Set up your new iPhone and sign in to iCloud.

To unpair your Apple Watch from your current iPhone, you need to have your new iPhone set up and sign in to iCloud. If you don’t have an iPhone, you can borrow one from a friend or family member.

On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. If you’re prompted for a Passcode, enter it. Tap “Unpair Apple Watch.”

If you can’t find the Apple Watch app on your new iPhone, try searching for it in the App Store.

Make sure that your new iPhone is running iOS 8.2 or later. On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. Tap “Start Pairing” and hold your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch. Wait for an animation to appear on your Apple Watch. When you see the “Apple Watch is Paired” message, tap Continue on your iPhone.

If asked, update the software on your Apple Watch.

Open the Watch app on your new iPhone.

Open the Watch app on your new iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab. If you see a message that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch,” tap Continue. If you don’t see this message, make sure that your new iPhone is running iOS 14.5 or later, then try again.
Next, position your new iPhone and Apple Watch close together.
A message should say that your new iPhone is searching for your Apple Watch. Tap Continue. If you can’t continue, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on both devices, then try again.
On your iPhone, tap Share Password, then enter the password for your Wi-Fi network when prompted.
On your Apple Watch, tap Join Network. Your Apple Watch should now be connected to your new iPhone.

Tap Start Pairing on your new iPhone.

On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.tap start pairing then hold your new iPhone over your Apple Watch.

A message on your iPhone says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch.”

Tap Continue, then wait for an animation to appear on your Apple Watch. Hold your Apple Watch close to your new iPhone, then wait for a message that says “set up complete.”

Hold your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch.

Open the Watch app on your new iPhone, then tap Pair new Watch.
Position your new iPhone over the top of your Apple Watch, making sure that the Apple logo on your watch is in view.
When you see a message that says Finish on your iPhone, tap it. If you don’t see this message, wait for a moment and try again.
On your Apple Watch, tap Pair.

Wait for an animation to appear on your new iPhone.

When you see the Apple logo and a progress bar on your new iPhone, wait for an animation to appear. This means that your new iPhone is starting up.

On your new iPhone, tap Continue. Then follow the instructions to set up your iPhone. If you see a message that says that your new iPhone can’t be used with your current Apple Watch, make sure that your new iPhone has the latest version of iOS.

If you need help, try these steps:

– Make sure that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. If you’re using cellular, make sure that Cellular Data is turned on for your watch in the Watch app on your new iPhone (tap My Watch, then tap Cellular).
– Make sure that Airplane Mode is off on both devices.
– On your new iPhone, open the Watch app, then tap Start Pairing on the screen. Or open the Apple Watch app on your old iPhone, then tap Settings >General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. After you erase all content and settings, turn off Airplane Mode, then restart both devices and try again.

When asked, enter apple id password on your new iPhone.

On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. Tap Start Pairing, then position your Apple Watch in front of your iPhone. When asked, enter your Apple ID password on your new iPhone. If you have an iPhone with Face ID, you might need to enter your passcode instead. Wait for the animation to appear on your Apple Watch, then press and hold the side button until you see Connect to iPhone.

Your Apple Watch will restart and display a message that says, “Use your iPhone to set up this watch.” Swipe right on your iPhone’s welcome screen, then follow the instructions. When asked, restore from a backup or set up as new. If you choose to restore from a backup, make sure that it’s from your current iPhone and that it includes all the apps that are installed on your Apple Watch. You might need to enter the password for your encrypted backup.

Tap Continue on your new iPhone and wait for the Watch app to finish syncing with your new iPhone.

After you unpair your Apple Watch from your current iPhone, you can pair it with a new iPhone. Follow these steps:

1. On your new iPhone, open the Watch app.
2. Tap Pair new Watch.
3. Hold your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch, then wait for an animation to appear on your Apple Watch. When you see the animation, tap Continue on your iPhone. If you can’t see the animation, Tap Set up manually, then follow the instructions that appear.
4. Wait for the Watch app to finish syncing with your new iPhone and downloading any available software updates for your Apple Watch. The process might take a while depending on the amount of data on your watch and how many apps need to be updated or installed. You can check the progress and estimated time remaining in the Watch app on your new iPhone:
5. Tap My Watch, then tap General > About > Check for Updates.
