How to Turn Off Apple Software Update

Turning off automatic updates for Apple software is easy and only takes a few steps. Here’s a quick guide on how to do it.

Open System Preferences

Open System Preferences and click on the App Store icon. Next to “Automatically check for updates,” uncheck the box.

Click on App Store

1. Click on App Store in the dock of your Mac. If you don’t see App Store, click the magnifying class in top right corner and type “App Store” into the search bar.
2. Once App Store has opened, click on the Updates tab at the top of the page.
3. In the pane that opens,find and click on Software Update.
4. The Software Update pane will open, showing you any updates that are available for your Mac. To turn off automatic updates, uncheck the box next to Check for updates automatically.

1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Click on App Store.
3. Uncheck the box next to “Automatically check for updates.”
