Activation Lock is designed to keep your Apple Watch safe in case it’s ever lost or stolen. When you turn on Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can:

-Erase and use your Apple Watch
-Activate and use your Apple Watch Cellular service

If you forget your passcode for your Apple Watch, you need factory reset it. This erases all the data on your watch and returns it to the default settings. If you have an Apple Watch with cellular, by removing the passcode, you also remove any ability to unlock or use the watch without setting up cellular again.

If Find My iPhone is turned on, turning off Activation Lock on your watch also turns off Find My iPhone for that watch. If Find My iPhone is off, turning off Activation Lock has no effect on Find My iPhone.
