If you’ve just upgraded to a new iPhone, you may be wondering how to switch apple watch to the new device. Here’s a quick guide to get you started.

Open watch app on your new iPhone.
Open the Watch app on your new iPhone, then pair your watch with your new iPhone. You’ll be prompted to restore from a backup. Choose a backup, then wait for the process to finish. If you don’t see a backup option, make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on in the Watch app on your old iPhone.
Tap the My Watch tab.
When you get your new iPhone, sign in to iCloud with apple id on your new phone. When you set up your new iPhone, you might see a message that asks if you want to use apple watch with this iPhone. Tap Continue, then follow the instructions.
If you already set up your new iPhone but didn’t see the message, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab. Tap your watch at the top of the screen, then tap Pair New Watch. Follow the instructions.
Tap your watch at the top of the screen.
From the Watch face, tap and hold the display. When the options appear, tap Change Watch.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.

Make sure that you have a backup of your watch: On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. Go to My Watch > Backup > Backup Now.
Turn off your watch: Press and hold the side button until you see Power Off, then drag the slider.
Remove your watch from your current iPhone: Tap Settings > Bluetooth, then find your watch under My Devices and tap the info button , then tap Forget This Device.
On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app and pair your watch with your new iPhone. You might be asked to enter a passcode on your watch or on its packaging.
Open the Apple Watch app on both of your phones and sign in with the same iCloud account information that you used when setting up each device originally (Learn more about iCloud accounts).
Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
Before you begin, unpair your Apple Watch from your current iPhone.
1. On your current iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
3. Tap Unpair Apple Watch, then tap again to confirm.
4. Wait for the process to finish, then choose what to do with your data:
-Tap Erase All Content and Settings to erase everything from your watch and start over with a new passcode.
-Or tap Keep All Data on Your iPhone to keep a backup of your watch data on your iPhone. This backup includespasswords, health data, and settings for your watch apps (but not app data).
Tap to confirm.
If you can’t set up your watch, unpair it and try again:
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap the info button , then tap Unpair Apple Watch.
Enter apple id password then tap Turn Off.
Tap to confirm, then wait for the process to finish.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap Pair New Watch.
Follow the instructions on your iPhone and watch.
Put your new iPhone next to your Apple Watch.
Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on and are in range of each other.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap Pair New Watch.
A message on your iPhone asks if you want to use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch. Tap Continue.
If you don’t see this message, wait for your iPhone to finish setting up, then open the Apple Watch app again.
Follow the instructions on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
Wait for an animation to appear on your Apple Watch.
On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. If you don’t have an iPhone 6s or later, you’ll need to download and install the Apple Watch app.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need your iPhone. After you pair your Watch with your iPhone, you can set it up to work with a cellular plan from a carrier or set it up without cellular service. first, decide which option is best for you.
If you plan to use your Watch without cellular service, you can leave your iPhone at home and still stay connected to the people and information that you care about. You can also use many of the same apps that you use on your iPhone, including third-party apps designed specifically for use on the wrist.
If you want to be able to leave your iPhone at home and still stay connected, even when there’s no Wi-Fi® or cellular signal available, you can sign up for a cellular plan directly from your carrier or add an existing cellular plan to your Apple Watch.
Enter your Apple ID password.
If you’ve just upgraded to a new iPhone, you’ll need to enter your Apple ID password on your Apple Watch.
To do this:
1. On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
3. Tap Passcode. If you’ve already set up a passcode, enter it now.
4. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
Tap Erase all content and settings.
If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, or upgrading to a newer model, might want to start with a clean slate by erasing all your old content and settings. Once you’ve backed up your iPhone, there are two ways to erase everything on your Apple Watch:
– On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then go to General > Reset. Tap Erase all content and settings.
– If you can’t access the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, or if you have an Apple Watch with cellular that isn’t paired with an iPhone, open the Settings app on your watch, tap General > Reset, then tap Erase all content and settings.
Keep in mind that this will also unpair your watch from your current iPhone. After you erase everything, you can set up your Apple Watch from scratch.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need to pair it with your iPhone. If you’re switching to a new iPhone, you might need to unpair your current Apple Watch from your old iPhone before you pair it with the new one.
Here’s how:
On your old iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap [your watch name]. Tap the info button next to your watch, then tap Unpair Apple Watch.
Enter your Apple ID password, then tap Turn Off.
On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID. Follow the onscreen instructions. When prompted, position your Apple Watch close to your new iPhone.
Tap Continue on your iPhone, then wait for an animation to appear on your Apple Watch. When you see the angle-bracket symbol on your watch face, hold it up to the face of your new iPhone—this is when they communicate wirelessly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Keep your devices close together until you see a message that says that your watch is connected. If you’re asked for a passcode and don’t know it, try 0000 or 1234. Once paired and connected, tap Set Up for Me onyour iPhone ortap Restore from Backupto restore apps and settings from a backup made withyour oldiPhone.
Choose to keep or remove your Cellular plan.
If you’re using an Apple Watch with cellular, you have the option to keep your cellular plan when you switch to a new iPhone.
Open the Apple Watch app on your new iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
Tap Cellular, then tap Set up Cellular.
Tap Continue, then choose to keep or remove your existing cellular plan.
Set up your Apple Watch again.
If you’ve just upgraded to a new iPhone, you’ll want to transfer your Apple Watch to the new device so you can take advantage of all its features. Here’s how to do it.
Before you begin, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS and your Apple Watch to watchOS. Then make sure that both devices are in range of each other and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app and tap the My Watch tab. Tap your watch at the top of the screen, then tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
If you turned on Find My iPhone on your previous iPhone, you need to turn it off before you can pair with a new iPhone:
Open the Settings app on your previous iPhone, then tap iCloud > Find My iPhone. If asked for a password, enter it now. Turn off Find My [device].
After your watch is reset, you can pair it with your new iPhone:
On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app and tap Start Pairing. Hold your new iPhone next to your watch until you see an animation on both devices and a message that says “Finish on Your [Device].” On your iPhone, tap Continue. Follow the instructions on both devices to finish setting up.
