Choose Your Apple
Not all apples are created equal—in fact, some are better for smoking out of than others. Here’s how to choose the right apple for the job.
Select a ripe apple
You want to look for an apple that is ripe, but not overripe. You can tell if an apple is overripe if it is soft to the touch or if it has any brown spots on the flesh. Once an apple starts to go bad, it rots from the inside out, so you definitely want to avoid those.
Avoid apples with bruises or blemishes
Before you can even think about smoking out of your apple, you need to choose the right apple. Not all apples are created equal, and you want to make sure you select one that will work well for this purpose.
The ideal apple for smoking out of is firm, with no bruises or blemishes. It should also be as symmetrical as possible, so that it can sit evenly on a flat surface. Once you’ve selected your apple, wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
Cut a Hole in the Apple
You’ll need a sharp knife for this.start by cutting a hole in the apple. The hole should be big enough to fit the bowl of your pipe. If you’re using a screen, make sure the hole is big enough to fit the screen as well. Next, use a sharp knife to cut a slit down the side of the apple. This will create a path for the smoke to travel.
Cut a small hole in the top of the apple
To smoke out of an apple, you’ll need to cut a small hole in the top of the apple. Be careful not to make the hole too big, or you’ll risk the apple falling apart. Next, insert your smoking device into the hole. You can use a pipe, bong, or even a joint. Finally, take a hit and enjoy!
Cut a larger hole in the bottom of the apple
When you’re cutting the hole in the bottom of the apple, make sure it’s big enough to fit the bowl of your pipe. You don’t want the opening to be so small that you can’t get a good draw, but you also don’t want it to be so big that all your weed falls through. A good rule of thumb is to make the opening about 1/2 inch wide.
Prepare the Apple for Smoking
Start by making a small hole in the bottom of the apple using a knife or other sharp object. You want the hole to be big enough to fit the stem of your smoking device, but not so big that the apple falls apart. If the hole is too big, you can try to cover it with foil or used gum.
Remove the seeds and stem from the top hole
To remove the seeds and stem from the top hole, take a small knife and cut around the circumference of the apple just below where the stem meets the apple. You want to cut deep enough to get rid of the seeds, but not so deep that you go all the way through the flesh of the apple. Next, use a straw or your finger to remove any remaining seeds from the hole.
Pack the bowl of your pipe with tobacco
Use a poker to pack the bowl of your pipe with tobacco. Be sure to pack it tight, but not too tight. If it’s too loose, the tobacco will burn too quickly. If it’s too tight, you won’t be able to draw air through the pipe.
Once the bowl is packed, put your thumb over the top of the bowl and hold it there while you use a lighter to ignite the tobacco. Be sure to keep your thumb over the top of the bowl while you light it, or else the tobacco will fall out.
Smoke at a steady pace, taking small puffs so that the tobacco doesn’t get too hot and start to taste bitter. When you’re finished smoking, tap out the ashes and allow the pipe to cool before packing it again.
Smoke the Apple
Cut a hole in the bottom of the apple using a knife. If the knife is too big, it will make it difficult to inhale the smoke. If the knife is too small, the apple will not be able to hold enough smoke. The ideal size is about the width of a pencil. Next, use a lighter to heat up the bowl of the apple. Be careful not to touch the metal to the apple, as this will cause the apple to catch on fire.
Light the tobacco in the bowl of your pipe
Light the tobacco in the bowl of your pipe. Take a few puffs to get it going, then gently blow on the embers to encourage them to spread evenly across the bowl. Keep taking gentle puffs until the tobacco is burning evenly.
Draw the smoke through the apple and into your lungs
To smoke out of an apple, first poke a hole in the skin of the apple with a knife. Then, insert a metal or glass pipe into the hole. Apply heat to the pipe with a lighter and inhale the smoke that is produced.
