Choose your watch face.
Your watch face is the window onto your day. Apple Watch comes with a variety of faces, and you can customize many of them to suit your needs and style. To see all the faces available to you, press firmly on the display. Then swipe left or right. To customize a face, tap Customize. For some faces, you can add or remove complications—small details that provide information at a glance, like the phase of the moon or your upcoming calendar events.
Customize your watch face.
There are a number of ways to customize your watch face. To start, press and hold the face of your watch. This will bring up a menu of different options. Swipe to see all the faces available, then tap on the one you want to select.
You can also customize the complications, or the small bits of information that appear on your watch face. To do this, press and hold the face of your watch, then swipe to the right until you see the Edit button. Tap on it, then use the (+) and (-) buttons to add or remove complications.
If you want to change the look of your watch band, simply press and hold the band release button on the back of your watch. The band should pop off easily. To put a new one on, line up the size markings (S, M, L) with those on the bottom half of your watch case, then snap it into place.
Set up notifications.
If you want to be able to see your notifications from your iPhone on your Apple Watch, you need to make sure that they’re turned on in the Notifications section of the Watch app. To do this, open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap on the My Watch tab. Scroll down and tap on Notifications.
On the next screen, make sure that the Mirror my iPhone option is turned on. This will ensure that all of the notifications from your iPhone are sent to your Apple Watch.
If you only want certain types of notifications to be sent to your Apple Watch, you can customize which ones are sent by tapping on the Customize button at the bottom of the screen.
You can also choose whether or not you want haptic feedback for each type of notification. Haptic feedback is the little vibration that you feel when a notification comes in. It’s a handy way to know that you’ve got a new notification without having to look at your watch all the time.
Install apps.
The Apple Watch App Store is a little different from the regular App Store on your iPhone. You can install apps directly onto your watch, but you’ll need to do it through the iPhone app first.
To start, open the Watch app on your iPhone and browse through the available apps. When you find one you want to install, tap on it and then tap on the “Install” button. The app will download onto your watch automatically.
You can also rearrange the apps on your watch by tapping and holding on an app, then dragging it to a new location. To delete an app, tap and hold on it, then tap on the “X” button.
