How to take a screenshot on your Apple computer in 3 easy steps!

Taking a Screenshot of Your Entire Screen
To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press and hold three keys together Shift, Command, and 3. If you see a screenshot appear briefly on your screen, you’ve successfully taken a screenshot.
Press Command (⌘)-Shift-3.
This shortcut takes a screenshot of the entire screen and saves it as a file on the desktop. The file name will look like “Screen shot 2021-03-03 at 08.45.00 AM.png”. find your screenshots, go to the desktop and look for the screenshot icon .
If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.
Find the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop.
Apple computers running macOS Mojave (10.14) and later can take a full-screen screenshot by pressing Shift-Command (⌘)-5 on their keyboard. And that’s all it takes to grab a full-screen screenshot on a Mac! If you press those keys and release, you’ll see the sound effect of a camera shutter, and your screenshot will be taken and saved as a .png file on your desktop.
Taking a Screenshot of a Selected Portion of Your Screen
To take a screenshot of a selected portion of your screen, press Command-Shift-4. Your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Drag the crosshair to select the area you want to capture, then release your mouse or trackpad button. If you want to cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key before you release the button.
Press Command-Shift-4.
Here’s how to take a screenshot of a selected portion of your screen:
1. Press Command-Shift-4. The pointer changes to a crosshair.
2. Move the crosshair to where you want start the screenshot, then drag to select an area. To move the selected area, press and hold Space bar while you drag it.
3. When you’ve selected the area you want, release your mouse or trackpad button. If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.

When you take a screenshot, a copy of the image is saved as a .png file on your desktop. You can open this file in Preview, Photos, or other apps that can edit images. To find your screenshot, open a Finder window and go to the desktop.
Taking a Screenshot of a Window
To take a screenshot of a specific window on your Apple computer, first make sure that the window is the active window by clicking on it. Then, press and hold the “Command” key and the “Shift” key, and press the “3” key. You should hear camera shutter sound and the screenshot will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop.
Press Command-Shift-4, then press the space bar.
To take a screenshot of an open window on your Apple computer, press Command-Shift-4, then press the space bar. The screenshot will be taken of the entire window, and you’ll be able to edit it in Preview.

Click the window that you want to capture an image of. The pointer changes to a camera icon .
If you want to move the entire selection, drag from within the selection.
To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
Move the camera icon over the window to highlight it.
Open the window that you want to screenshot and make sure that it’s the active window. Then, press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 4.
If you see a crosshair in the center of your screen, you can drag it over the area you’d like to capture. To move the entire selection, press and hold Spacebar while dragging.
When you’ve selected the area you want, release your mouse or trackpad button to take the screenshot.
To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
