How to Screen Shot on Your Apple iPad

It’s easy to take a screenshot on your iPad. Here’s how to do it and some tips on when screenshots can be useful.

Open the screen that you want to take a picture of.

To take a screenshot, you need to open the screen that you want to take a picture of. Then, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of your iPad. At the same time, press and release the Home button. If you’re successful, you should hear camera shutter sound If you don’t hear a shutter sound, make sure that your iPad isn’t in Silent mode.

Immediately press and release the Home button. You can let go of the Sleep/Wake button. If you have an iPad Pro (12.9-inch) or (11-inch), this step might not be necessary.

A thumbnail of your screenshot appears in the lower-left corner of your Apple iPad. Tap the thumbnail to add drawings and text with Markup, or press and hold the thumbnail to share the screenshot. Swipe left on the thumbnail to dismiss it.

While still holding the Sleep/Wake button, press and release the Home button.

This will take a picture of the current screen and save it to your device.

You will see the screen flash white and hear the camera shutter sound. This means that a picture has been taken and saved to your iPad’s Camera Roll album in the Photos app.
