How to Return an Apple Product

Apple offers several options for returning an Apple product. You can return your item within 14 days of receiving it.

If you need to return an Apple product, we’re here to help. We offer several convenient ways to get your product back to us. Get started by choosing the option below that best meet your needs.

The Process

If you need to return an Apple product, there are a few different ways you can do it depending on what type of product it is and where you purchased it from. You can return apple products to an Apple Store, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or by mail. For some products, you might also be able to take it to an Apple Authorized Reseller.

Find the serial number

Every Apple product has a serial number This number helps us verify your product is eligible for coverage under our Limited Warranty or AppleCare+ Protection Plan. To find your serial number, you can look in settings app on your device, use the Finder or iTunes, or on the original packaging.

If your device is lost or stolen and you didn’t set up Find My iPhone, you can’t use Find My iPhone to find your device, but you might be able to use apple id and password to remove your personal information from the device.

Gather your proof of purchase

If you don’t have your original receipt, we can try to look up your purchase with apple id order number or the serial number of your product.

Some purchases might require additional documentation and can take slightly longer to verify. We’ll let you know the status of your return once we have all the information we need.

Choose the reason for your return

Before you return your item to Apple, you need to decide which type of return you would like to do. Depending on the item and the reason for your return, you might have different options.

You can return most items that were purchased from Apple within 14 days of receiving your shipment. If you choose to return an item due to a defect, we will replace it with a new item. If we are unable to replace the item, we will refund your original purchase price plus any applicable taxes using the original method of payment. If you received a faulty item and it is within 30 days of receipt, please contact Apple Technical Support at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273).

Get a return authorization

Apple has a specific process for returns, which begins with obtaining a return authorization. You can get a return authorization by calling Apple support or by going to the Apple website and starting a chat session.

You will need to provide your name, address, email address, and phone number. You will also need the serial number of the product you wish to return. Once you have a return authorization, you can either schedule a courier pickup or return the product to an Apple Store.

Ship your product

Whether you received a defective product or just changed your mind, you have 14 calendar days from the time you receive your merchandise to make a return. You can return most items purchased at an Apple Store, Apple Sales Web site, or by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.
