How to Reset Your Apple Watch Without a Passcode

If you forgot apple watch passcode, or if a family member accidentally entered the wrong passcode too many times, you can reset your device without losing any of your data.

Open the Settings app on apple watch

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch. Tap Passcode. If you have a passcode set, you’ll be prompted to enter it. Tap Turn Passcode Off. If you have an active watch face complications, you’ll need to enter your passcode again.

Tap General.

If you can’t remember your passcode, you’ll need to erase your Apple Watch, which deletes all of your data and settings. If you backed up your Apple Watch, you can restore your data and settings after erasing.

Tap General.

Tap Reset.

Tap Erase All Content and Settings. If you turn off Find My iPhone on your paired iPhone, you won’t be able to use it to find your Apple Watch if it gets lost.

Enter your passcode when prompted, then tap Erase everything.

Tap Reset.

If you forgot your Apple Watch passcode, you can disable it and then set it up again. This will erase all of your data, including any credit or debit cards that you’ve added for Apple Pay, and you’ll need to set it up from scratch. Here’s how:

1. On your iPhone, open watch app
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Passcode. If you’ve already set up a passcode, tap Change Passcode. If you don’t have a passcode yet, tap Turn Passcode On.
3. Enter your new passcode twice, then tap Done.
4. On your Apple Watch, press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears.
5. Drag the slider to turn off your Apple Watch. Once your watch is off, press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo appear.

Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch. Tap General. Tap Reset. Tap Erase All Content and Settings. Enter apple id password to confirm. If you don’t have apple id password tap Erase All.

Enter apple id password if prompted.

If you’ve forgotten your Apple Watch passcode, you can reset it using your iPhone. First, make sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of watchOS, and that your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone. Then follow these steps:

1. On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Passcode. If you don’t see a Passcode option, tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
3. Tap Erase All, then enter your Apple ID password to confirm.
4. If asked for a six-digit passcode, enter 0000001 as the passcode; if asked for an alphanumeric code, enter ZZZZZ as the code.
5. When prompted, open the Apple Watch app on youriPhone and tap Restore from Backup to choose a backup file from which to restore your content and settings; otherwise, continue with the next step start fresh with new content and settings on your Apple Watch.
6. Wait for the process to finish; when it does, you can set up your Apple Watch as new or restore from a different backup file if you have one.

Tap Erase All.

If you forgot your Apple Watch passcode, you won’t be able to use your watch until you reset it. If you’re able to sign in to your iPhone with your passcode, you can reset your Apple Watch from there. Otherwise, you’ll need to erase all of the content on your watch and start over.
