- Open watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab.
- Tap General > Reset.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
- For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan.

Open watch app on your iPhone.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone. Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, and that Bluetooth is turned on. Tap the watch tab then tap your watch at the top of the screen. If you don’t see your watch, tap Add a new watch start pairing.
Tap the info button next to your watch, then tap Unpair Apple Watch. A confirmation message appears; tap again to confirm.
Tap the My Watch tab.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab.
Tap your watch at the top of the screen.
If you’re asked for a passcode, enter it.
Tap Start Pairing. If you don’t see Start Pairing, tap Unpair Apple Watch, then start over.
Hold your watch close to your iPhone. Wait for an animation to appear on your iPhone, then hold your watch under the animation.
When you see a message that says Finish on Your Apple Watch, tap it. If you can’t see that message, make sure that Wrist Detection is turned on for your watch: Open the Settings app on your watch > Privacy > Wrist Detection
Tap General > Reset.
If you need to unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone so that you can pair them with different devices, follow these steps:
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap the info button next to the watch that you want to unpair, then tap Unpair Apple Watch.
For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan. If you want to keep your plan, you can re-pair after you sign in with your new iPhone.
Tap Unpair.
Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
If you can’t update or restore your Apple Watch, you might need to erase all of its content and settings. When you erase your Apple Watch, it also erases your passcode and the content that you’ve synced from your iPhone.
1. On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap General > Reset.
3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings, then tap Erase All.
4. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
5. Wait for the process to finish, then you can set up your Apple Watch again.
For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan.
If you have an Apple Watch with cellular, you may need to remove your cellular plan before you can pair with a new iPhone. If you turn off your cellular plan or cancel your service, your information will remain on your old iPhone.
To remove your cellular plan:
1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
2. Tap Cellular > View Account. If asked, sign in with your carrier account credentials.
3. Tap Cancel Plan, then tap Continue to confirm.
4. After you cancel your plan, contact your carrier to set up a new account and add it to your Apple Watch.
If prompted, enter apple id password.
If you’re asked to enter apple id password make sure that it’s the same password you use to sign in to your iPhone. If you don’t know your password, tap “Forgot password” and follow the instructions on the screen.
Tap Erase everything.
If you plan to give your Apple Watch to someone else or you’re having trouble with it, you can erase all the content and settings. This will also unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone.
Before you begin, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS and your Watch to the latest version of watchOS. Unpairing will back up most of your data automatically.
To unpair and erase:
1) Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab.
2) Tap All Watches at the top of the screen and then tap the info button next to the watch that you want to unpair.
3) Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
4) For GPS + Cellular models, tap to turn off Activate Cellular, then tap Continue. If you can’t see this option, cellular service isn’t available in your area or on your carrier’s network. You need to have a cellular plan set up for your watch in order to turn off Activate Cellular. If you unsubscribe from cellular service, contact your carrier to re-enable it when you’re ready.
5) For all models, tap Erase all content and settings and then tap again to confirm.
After your Apple Watch restarts, pair it with your iPhone again.
