Printing in OS X
Printing in OS X is easy and straightforward. You can either use the print function in your word processing or text editing program or you can use the Print command in the Finder.
Open the file you want to print
To print a document or image, you first need to open it in an Apple program.Preview is the default program for viewing images and PDFs, while TextEdit is the default text editor. If the file you want to print isn’t already open in Preview or TextEdit, you can open it by double-clicking on it in the Finder. Once the file is open, you can proceed to the next step.
There are a few different ways to print in OS X, and the method you use will depend on the type of file you’re trying to print. If you’re printing from a word processing or other text document, the easiest way to print is to click File in top menu bar then click Print. This will open a new window with options for printing your document, such as adjusting the number of copies, choosing which printer to use, and selecting double-sided or borderless printing.
Click Print
When find something you want to print—whether it’s a web page, an email, a document, or a photo—click the File menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select Print. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Command+P.
A preview of what you’re about to print appears on your screen. From here, you can choose how many copies you want to print, which printer you want to use, and other options by clicking the Show Details button.
In order to print in OS X, you will first need to open the document or image you want to print. Once the document or image is open, click on the “File” drop-down menu at the top of your screen and select “Print.” This will open the Print dialogue box.
In the Print dialogue box, you will see a number of options that you can adjust in order to get your desired print result. The first option is the “Printer” drop-down menu. Click on this menu and select the printer that you want to use. If you do not see your desired printer listed, make sure that it is turned on and connected to your computer.
Once you have selected your printer, take a look at the other options in the Print dialogue box and make any necessary adjustments. When you are satisfied with your settings, click on the “Print” button at the bottom of the dialogue box and your document or image will begin printing.
Select the printer you want to use
Choose File > Print, click the Printer pop-up menu, then choose the printer you want to use.
The Presets drop-down menu (by default in the upper-left corner of the Print dialog box) includes a selection of options different types of printers, paper sizes, and quality levels. If you frequently print using the same settings, you can save those settings as a custom preset.
1.Click the Presets drop-down menu, and then choose Save As.
2.Type a name for your preset in the Save Preset As field, and then click OK.
3.Make any changes to the printing options that you want to include in your preset, and then click Save.
Select the settings you want to use
In the Print dialog box, click the drop-down menu next to Presets, then select one of the following options:
Standard: Uses general print settings that should work with most documents.
Draft: Prints quickly and uses less ink, but the output might not be as high quality.
Photo: Uses settings optimized for printing photos.
Click the button next to paper size, then select a paper size from the drop-down menu.
Click the button next to Orientation, then select an orientation from the drop-down menu.
Click Print
Now that you have your document open in the application of your choice, it’s time to print. The first step is to click File in the menu bar at the top of your screen, then click Print… in the drop-down menu that appears.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Command+P to open the Print dialog box.
This will bring up the Print dialog box, where you can select your printer, choose your print settings, and specify how many copies you want to print.

Open the file you want to print
Before you can print, you need to open the file in the app that created it. The app might automatically open to the correct file, or might need to navigate to it.
File > Open, or double-click the file’s icon
If you don’t see your file:
Tap , then locate and tap the file that you want to open.
Or if you’re using iCloud Drive or another storage service, browse to where you store your files, then tap the file that you want to open.
To print in iOS, tap the share icon in any app that supports printing—such as Photos, Safari, or Notes—then tap Print. If an AirPrint printer is available, it will appear in the Printer Options list. To print to a different printer, tap Select Printer and choose an AirPrint printer.

Printing in iOS is a snap. Whether you need to print a document, photo, web page, or email, iOS has the built-in ability to handle it. All you need is a printer that supports Apple’s AirPrint technology.
To print in iOS, simply tap the share icon (the square with the arrow pointing up) and tap Print. You’ll be able to select the number of copies and the printer you want to use. Tap Print in the upper-right corner when you’re ready to proceed.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the app that you want to print from. To find the print option, tap the app’s sharing icon — or — or .

Tap Printer. If you don’t see an option for AirPrint, check that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device.
Tap the Printer drop-down menu, then choose an AirPrint-enabled printer.
Select the printer you want to use
Before you can print, you need to select a printer. iOS supports AirPrint-enabled printers, hundreds of printer models that connect to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch through a Wi-Fi network.
To see if your printer is AirPrint-enabled, check the manufacturer’s website or look for the AirPrint logo on the box or on the printer itself.
You can also use a USB cable to connect some printers directly to your iOS device.
Next, choose the Sunlight or artificial light option from the Presets drop-down menu. This setting is designed to make colors look their best under natural light conditions.
Select the settings you want to use
To select the settings you want to use, tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap Print. Or, from the app you want to print from, tap .
If it’s your first time printing from that app, tap Select Printer and choose an AirPrint printer. If you’ve printed from that app before, your last-used printer is selected.
Tap the number of copies you want to print, if desired. If you don’t see the option to select a printer or number of copies, tap or , then make your selections.
Tap Print in the upper-right corner of the screen.
