How to Play Music on Your Apple Watch

apple watch has a built-in Music app that lets you store and play your own music, and it’s pretty simple to use. Here’s how.

Open the Music app.

To play music on apple watch first open the Music app. You can do this by tapping the Music app icon on your home screen, or by using Siri to say “Open Music.”

Once you’re in the Music app, you can browse your music library by song, artist, album, genre, or playlist. To play a song, tap on it.

You can also control playback from the Now Playing screen. To access this screen, tap on the album artwork in the upper-left corner of the Music app. From here, you can pause or skip songs, adjust the volume, and more.

Tap the Library tab.

To access your music library, tap the Library tab at the bottom of the Music app. Here, you can view your recent playlists and albums, and search for specific songs, artists, albums, or genres.

To play a song, tap it. The song start playing instantly. To add the song to your Up Next queue, tap , then tap Add to Up Next.

If you add music to apple watch you can play it without your iPhone when you’re away from your phone or if your phone is off. You can also play it when you don’t have an Internet connection.

When you wear headphones or speakers connected to your watch, tap the Music app on your watch to open it. You might see Now Playing on your watch face.

Or ask Siri to play a song, album, or playlist:

“Hey Siri, play some music.”
“Hey Siri, play my workout playlist.”
“Hey Siri, play .”

When you’re playing music on apple watch you can see information about the song, such as the title and artist, by tapping .

To play music on your Apple Watch, you need to have paired it with headphones or speakers using Bluetooth.

You can also control music playback on your iPhone from your Apple Watch. For example, you can start playing a song on your iPhone, then control playback from your Apple Watch.

If you have apple music subscription you can stream millions of songs on your Apple Watch, even if you don’t have your iPhone with you.

Tap to shuffle all the songs in the current playlist or album.

To repeat a song or playlist, tap .

On your iPhone, open the Music app.

Find the song or playlist that you want to repeat, then tap .

Tap Repeat. You can repeat a song, album, or playlist.

If you want to repeat just one song, touch and hold , then tap Repeat.

To add a song to your Up Next queue, tap .

You can add songs to your Up Next queue in the Music app on your Apple Watch.

1. Open the Music app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap , then tap a song, album, playlist, or artist.
3. Tap , then tap Add to Up Next.
4. To play the song next, tap . Or to play it later, tap .
5. To view your Up Next queue, tap .

-Tap to play or pause music.
-Tap or to skip forward or backward. You can also drag your finger along the outside of the Digital Crown to fast-forward or rewind.
-Tap to raise or lower the volume.

You can use the Radio app on your Apple Watch to listen to live, local, and global radio stations.

-Tap shuffle to turn on shuffling of songs in a playlist, album, or category. When shuffling is turned on, appears next to the shuffle button . To turn off shuffling, tap shuffle again .
-Tap repeat to play songs continuously. To repeat one song, tap , then tap Repeat One Song .

You need Wi-Fi or cellular data on apple watch series 3 (GPS + Cellular) or later to stream music and videos from Apple Music and iTunes Movies (where available). With watchOS 5 and later, you can download certain albums, playlists, and shows from Apple Music and iTunes Movies (where available) so that you can listen without your iPhone nearby.
