Setting Up Apple Pay

Setting up Apple Pay is easy and only takes a few minutes. You can use it to make purchases in stores, in apps, and on websites. You can use apple pay to send and receive money from friends and family. Here’s how to set up Apple Pay.

Add a Credit or Debit Card to Apple Pay

You can add credit, debit, and prepaid cards to Apple Pay so that you can use your iPhone apple watch to make purchases at stores, in apps, and on websites.

To add a card on your iPhone:

1. Open the Wallet app and tap the plus sign.
2. Use your camera to capture your card information or enter the card details manually.
3. If you need to, enter the security code from the back of your card.
4. Tap Next, then follow the instructions on your screen to verify your card.

To add a card on your Apple Watch:
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
2. Tap Add Card and follow the instructions on your screen.

Use Apple Pay in Stores

To pay in stores with your iPhone or Apple Watch, hold your device near the reader and wait for Done and a checkmark on the display. You might need to sign a receipt or enter your PIN. If you’re using an iPhone and see holding your iPhone near the reader, double-click the side button. To pay with Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold the display of your watch within a few centimeters of the contactless reader. You might need to enter your PIN.

If you’re using an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the home button, then select your pass. To pay with Apple Watch (1st generation), double-click the side button and hold the display of your watch close to the contactless reader until you feel a tap. Or rest your finger on Touch ID. When you see Done and a checkmark on the display, it means that your payment was successful. If you don’t see Done and a checkmark, try again or ask to pay by another method.

Use Apple Pay with Apps

In addition to using Apple Pay in stores and restaurants, you can also use it to make purchases in apps. Look for the Apple Pay button the next time you’re buying something online in your favorite app.

– Open the app that you want to make a purchase in.
– Find the item that you want to buy and tap the Apple Pay button or choose Apple Pay as your payment method. You might need to sign in first.
– Review your payment information and tap Continue. If you need to, enter your billing, shipping, and contact information on the next screen.
– Place your finger on Touch ID or double-click the side button, then look at your iPhone to complete the payment. If you’re using an iPhone with Face ID, double-click the side button, then look at your iPhone to complete the payment; if you’re using an iPhone X or later without Face ID, triple-click the side button, then look at your iPhone to complete the payment; or if you’re using an iPad with Touch ID or Face ID, place your finger on Touch ID or triple-click the top button and look at your iPad to complete the payment. Depending on your settings, you might need to enter a PIN after confirming each transaction.
You’ll know that your payment was successful when you see Done and a checkmark on the screen.

If you’re using an iPhone 6 or later, you can pay for items in apps with Apple Pay. Look for the Apple Pay logo or touch the Pay with Apple Pay button at checkout. Research shows that mobile payments using Apple Pay are growing rapidly, with more and more consumers using it to pay for items in apps. Paying with Apple Pay is simple and secure, and it’s a great way to avoid reaching for your wallet or purse when you’re making a purchase.

Send and Receive Money with Apple Pay

Apple Pay can be used to send and receive money with friends and family right in the Messages app. To get started, open a conversation in Messages and tap . If you don’t see an Apple Pay button, tap first.

Then, either type in an amount or tap to see common amounts. Tap Pay, then review and confirm the payment. To pay someone who isn’t nearby, choose Send funds via message and type in an amount. The recipient will get a notification that they can claim the money with Apple Pay Cash right in their Messages app.

If you don’t have enough Apple Pay Cash to cover the amount of your transaction, you can pay with your debit or prepaid card that’s associated with Apple Pay. Just tap it when you’re making your payment.

Troubleshooting Apple Pay

If you’re having trouble using Apple Pay to make a payment, there are a few things you can try. First, make sure that your device is compatible with Apple Pay. Next, check to see if you’re in a country or region where Apple Pay is available. Check if Your Bank or Credit Card Supports Apple Pay

Before you can use Apple Pay to make payments, you need to check if your bank or credit card supports Apple Pay. You can do this by going to the Settings app on your iPhone and tapping “Wallet & Apple Pay.” If you see the option to add a credit or debit card, then your bank or credit card supports Apple Pay.

Add a New Credit or Debit Card to Apple Pay

It’s easy to add a new credit or debit card to Apple Pay. You can do it right on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or in the Wallet app on your Apple Watch.

Here’s how:

Open the Wallet app and tap .
Tap , then follow the instructions on your screen.

If you’re using an iPhone 6s or later, you can add a new credit or debit card by using the camera.

Tap , then position your card in the camera frame to automatically capture your card number and activate the camera. If asked, enter the security code for your credit or debit card.
After you enter your card information, tap Add. If you want to add another card, repeat these steps.
