If you’re moving from an iPhone to a new iPhone, and you’ve chosen to keep your current iPhone around for a while, might want to unpair your Apple Watch from your current iPhone before you get started with setting up the new one. This will ensure that none of your old data is copied over to the new watch. If you’re moving from an Android phone to an iPhone, and you’re keeping your Android phone around for a while as well, unpairing isn’t necessary since your Android phone won’t share data with your Apple Watch.
Once you’ve decided to unpair, open the Apple Watch app on your old iPhone and tap the My Watch tab. Tap All Watches at the top of the screen, then select the watch that you want to unpair and tap it. Scroll down and tap Unpair Apple Watch. You’ll need to enter your passcode on the watch itself to confirm that you want to unpair it. Once it’s been successfully unpaired, you can set it up again with your new iPhone.
