How to Pair Your New Apple TV Remote

You’ve got your apple tv and you’re ready to set it up. But you may be wondering, how do you pair your new Apple TV remote? We’ve got you covered.

Open settings app on your ‌Apple TV‌.

If you have an ‌Apple TV‌ that doesn’t come with a remote, you’ll need to use your iPhone, iPad, ipod touch to set it up. Instead of using your Siri Remote or apple tv remote in your Control Center, you’ll navigate with the arrows on your device’s keyboard.

start open settings app on your ‌Apple TV‌. If you’re using an ‌Apple TV‌ 4K or 4th generation model, go to Accounts > Sign In. If you’re using an ‌Apple TV‌ 3rd generation model or earlier, go to General > Network.

Go to Remotes and Devices.

On your Apple TV 4K apple tv hd go to Settings > Remotes and Devices. If you don’t see Remotes and Devices,go to Settings > App Store and make sure that Installed Apps is turned on.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Apple TV Remote app. Or go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote App and Devices.

If you can’t find the Remote app on your device, check the App Store. Pair your new remote:

1) On your Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, hold down the Home button on the new remote for 6 seconds. The status light should blink rapidly.
2) On your iOS device, select Add Accessory, then select Don’t Have a Code or Can’t Scan.
3) Enter the 8-digit code that appears on your Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD screen using the numeric keypad in the upper-right corner of your iOS device’s keyboard layout.*

Once you enter the code, placed your two devices close together to finish pairing.

Select Bluetooth.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 13 or later, open the Settings app. Select Bluetooth. If asked, choose to trust the device.

On your Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth. If you don’t see Bluetooth, go to Settings > General > Restrictions and make sure that Software Tethering is turned on.

On your Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, open the Finder. Select Finder > Preferences from the menu bar. Click General at the top of the Preferences window. Check “Show these items on the desktop.” Open a new Finder window and select AirPlay from the sidebar. Double-click your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV in the list that appears to begin streaming content to it.

Put your ‌Apple TV‌ remote in pairing mode by pressing and holding the Menu and Volume Up buttons simultaneously for five seconds. If you have an ‌Apple TV‌ 4K or 4th generation model, you’ll need to press and hold the Touch surface and VoiceOver button.

Your ‌Apple TV‌ will enter pairing mode and a white light will flash on the front of the device. Point your remote at your ‌Apple TV‌ and hold down the Play/Pause button until the white light on your ‌Apple TV‌ turns solid.

If you’re having trouble pairing your remote, make sure that you’re:
-Within range of your ‌Apple TV‌
-Using an IR remote
-Not using a case or anything that blocks the remote’s sensors
-Not using another remote with your ‌Apple TV‌
-Not using your remote to control anything else, like a DVD player

On your iOS device, open the Apple TV Remote app.

Tap Add New Device, then tap your Apple TV.

When asked for a four-digit code, enter it on your Apple TV.

Select Add New ‌Apple TV‌.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Home app and tap , then tap Add Accessory. If you don’t see , tap first.
Point your remote at your iOS device and hold down Touch surface until you see the plus sign + on your iOS device.
A four-digit code appears on your iOS device.
On your remote, enter the four-digit code.

Enter the 4-digit code that appears on your ‌Apple TV‌.

On your ‌Apple TV‌, go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote Control > Enter Code. If you don’t see “Enter Code,” make sure that your ‌Apple TV‌ is turned on and connected to your Wi-Fi network.

On your iOS device, open the Remote app, then tap Add a Device > Apple TV. If you don’t see “Add a Device,” make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iOS device.

Enter the 4-digit code that appears on your ‌Apple TV‌.

If you don’t see the 4-digit code, make sure that your ‌Apple TV‌ is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.

1. Open the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, and choose your ‌Apple TV‌.

2. If you’re asked to enter a passcode, use the 4-digit code on your ‌Apple TV‌. If you don’t see the code, make sure that your ‌Apple TV‌ is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.

3. After you enter the passcode, your iOS device and ‌Apple TV‌ will pair automatically.
