If you’re new to apple pencil or have recently upgraded to a new iPad, you might be wondering how to pair your Apple Pencil with your iPad. Here’s a quick guide to get you started.

Open settings app on your iPad.
Open settings app on your iPad, then tap Bluetooth.
When Bluetooth is on, your iPad will search for devices that you can pair with.
Tap the name of your Apple Pencil when it appears in the list under Other Devices.
Tap Bluetooth.
On your iPad, tap Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure that Bluetooth is on.
Then, connect your Apple Pencil to your iPad.
Do one of the following:
If you have an iPad Pro (9.7-inch): wait for your Apple Pencil to show up under My Devices, then tap it.
If you have an iPad Pro (12.9-inch) or iPad (5th generation): tap the Apple Pencil icon next to Devices, then tap Pair.
Tap the name of your Apple Pencil.
To pair your Apple Pencil with your iPad, remove the cap and plug it into the Lightning connector on your iPad. When you see the Pair button, tap it.
After you pair your Apple Pencil, it will stay paired until you restart your iPad, turn on Airplane Mode, or pair with another iPad.
Tap the name of your iPad.
In settings app , tap Bluetooth, then tap the name of your iPad.
If you can’find your iPad, make sure that it’s charged and that Bluetooth is on. Then try restarting your iPad and bringing your Apple Pencil close to it.
If asked, enter the four-digit code on your Apple Pencil.
If you’re using an Apple Pencil (1st generation), remove the cap and plug your Apple Pencil into the Lightning connector on your iPad. When prompted, tap Continue. If you see a button that says Unpair, tap it.
After a few seconds, your Apple Pencil will pair automatically. You might see amessage that says, “Not Connected.” Ignore this message—it just means that the pairing process is complete. Now you can remove your Apple Pencil from the Lightning connector and use it.
Tap Done.
Your Apple Pencil is now paired with your iPad and you’re ready start using it. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
– If you’re using an iPad Pro (11-inch) or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation), you can pair your Apple Pencil with your iPad by tapping the pairing button on the back of your pencil.
– If you’re using an iPad Pro 10.5-inch, you can also use the lightning connector to connect your Apple Pencil directly to your iPad and charge it at the same time.
– If you’re using an iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad mini (5th generation), or any other model of iPad, you’ll need to use the lightning connector to connect your Apple Pencil directly to your iPad.
