Assuming you have an iPhone, the first thing you’ll need to do is make sure your Watch is up to date. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap General > Software update and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once it’s up to date, you can start the paring process by putting your Watch on its charger and making sure it has at least 50% battery life. Then, bring your iPhone close to your Watch and wait for a message that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch.”

Tap Continue, then wait for a 6-digit or 4-digit code to appear on your Watch. Enter this code on your iPhone when prompted and hit Continue again. If you’re asked to restore from a backup, tap Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup from the list that appears.

You’ll then be able to choose which features you want to use on your Watch and whether or not you want to receive notifications from your iPhone on your Watch. Once you’ve made all of your choices, tap Set Up Apple Watch at the bottom of the screen and wait for everything to transfer over. That’s it!
