How to Open Apple Pay and Start Using It

If you have an iPhone 6 or later, you use apple pay to make purchases in stores, in apps, and on the web. Here’s how to set up use apple pay

Open the Wallet app.

If you don’t have the Wallet app, download it from the App Store.

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone, tap the plus sign , then follow the steps to add a card. You can add cards from your iTunes account, or by taking a photo of your card.

If you’re asked to verify your card, choose an option from the list. You might need to wait a day or two for verification. After your bank or issuer verifies your card, tap Next. Then start using Apple Pay.

You can also add a credit or debit card on your iPad by going to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.

Follow the onscreen instructions to add a new card.

When you open Apple Pay for the first time, you may be asked to sign in with apple id If you’re using an iPhone that’s already signed in to iCloud, you may be prompted to use Face ID or Touch ID.

To add a new card, tap Add Card. If you’re using iOS 11.2 or later, you can add more than one card to Apple Pay.

When you see either of these symbols, you can use Apple Pay. If you don’t see either symbol and would like to pay with Apple Pay, ask the cashier if they accept it. You can also pay with Apple Pay in some apps and on some websites using Safari on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

If you’re paying with a credit or debit card that’s been added to more than one device, make sure that the device that you’re using is selected in Wallet.

Apple Watch users can double-click the side button to bring up their cards and then hold the Watch near the reader. When prompted, hold your Watch close to the contactless reader until you feel a vibration; this indicates that your payment has gone through successfully.

To use Apple Pay in apps or on websites, select Apple Pay as the payment method at checkout and complete the payment using Face ID or Touch ID.

When you’re ready to pay, just hold your device near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. You don’t even need to wake up your device first. If you’re paying with iPhone X or later and there’s no Touch ID reader available, look for a contactless reader and hold the top of your device within a few centimeters of the contactless symbol. Then wait for Done and hold up your device to complete the transaction.

If you’re using Apple Watch to pay in store, double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch up to the contactless reader. Wait for Done and feel a gentle tap.
