How to Mirror Your Device with Apple TV

Introduction

If you have apple tv and iPhone, you can mirror the contents of your iPhone’s screen on your television. This is useful for watching movies or TV shows, playing games, sharing photos, or presenting a Keynote presentation. You can also use it to show off your phone’s content on a larger screen.

There are two ways to mirror your iPhone’s screen on apple tv with AirPlay, or with a Lightning Digital AV Adapter.

AirPlay is the easiest way to mirror your iPhone’s screen on your Apple TV. If you have an Apple TV (4th generation or later), all you need is an iPhone that’s running iOS 11.2 or later.

What You Need

To mirror your device with Apple TV, you need the following:

-An Apple TV that supports AirPlay 2
-A compatible iPhone, iPad, ipod touch with iOS 11.4 or later
-A compatible Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14 or later

If you can’t see the AirPlay icon, check your device’s settings to see if AirPlay is turned on. If you still can’t see the icon, restart your Apple TV and your device.

Set up Apple TV

start you’ll need a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.
First, make sure that your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and your Apple TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Then open Control Center tap screen mirroring You should see the name of your Apple TV under Available Devices. If you don’t see it, check that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Tap the name of your Apple TV when it appears in the list under Available Devices. If prompted, enter the four-digit code that appears on your Apple TV screen.

Set up your device

Open the Control Center on your iOS device tap screen mirroring Select your Apple TV from the list.

Use AirPlay

You can use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from your iOS device or Mac to your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-enabled smart TV. For example, you can mirror what’s on your device’s display to your TV, project a presentation from your device to a large screen, or enjoy movies and music on the big screen.

Before you can use AirPlay, make sure that both your Apple TV and iOS device or Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network. Then follow these steps:

On your iOS device or Mac, open the app or video that you want to stream.
Tap or click in the video player controls. If you don’t see , go to Settings > Videos > AirPlay.
Tap or click the name of your Apple TV. If asked, enter the password for your Apple TV.

If you’re using an iOS device and want to play sound through your television or receiver, make sure that you’re using an HDMI cable connected to an HDMI port on your television or receiver that supports audio output. You might need a separate audio cable such as a digital optical cable (not included).

Troubleshoot AirPlay

If you can’t mirror your device using AirPlay, try the following:

-Make sure that your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
-Check for updates to your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
-Check for updates to your Mac.
-Reset your AirPlay receiver.
-Restart your Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
-Restart your Mac.
