How to Get Messages on Your Apple Watch

Open watch app on your iPhone.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone. Tap the watch tab then scroll down to Notifications. Tap Notifications, then scroll down to the Mirror my iPhone setting.

The My Watch tab is where you manage the apps and other features on apple watch To get to the My Watch tab, just tap the watch face icon in the bottom left corner of apple watch app.

Once you’re on the My Watch tab, scroll down until you see the Messaging section. In this section, you can toggle various settings for how you want to receive messages on your Apple Watch. You can choose to receive messages as alerts, which will display a notification on your watch face whenever you receive a new message. Or, you can choose to receive messages as notifications, which will vibrate your watch when you receive a new message but won’t display anything on your watch face.

You can also choose to mirror your iPhone’s messaging settings, which will use the same settings as your iPhone for how messages are displayed on your Apple Watch. Or, you can choose to have unique messaging settings just for your Apple Watch.

Finally, you can also choose to enable or disable message previews on your Apple Watch. Message previews will show a snippet of the message’s contents on your watch face whenever you receive a new message. If you’d prefer not to see message previews, you can disable them in the Messaging section of the My Watch tab.

Tap Notifications.

Be sure your iPhone is nearby, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then scroll to Notifications.
Turn on Allow Notifications.

If you’re not using notifications or want to reduce the number of notifications you get, you can turn them off or customize them:

On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
Tap the My Watch tab, then scroll to Notifications.
Tap an app, then turn off Allow Notifications and Sounds.

Tap the switch next to Show Alerts.

When you turn on Show Alerts, you’ll get notifications for new messages. You can also turn on sound and haptics, or have your Apple Watch tap you on the wrist when you get a message. Just tap the switch next to each setting.
