Before start submitting your music to Apple Music, it’s important to do your research and make sure you’re familiar with their process and what is required of you. This will save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run. Here’s what you need to know.
Find the right category for your genre
When you submit your music to Apple Music, you’ll need to choose a category for your song. There are a few different options to choose from, and the right one for you will depend on your genre. Here are the different categories you can choose from:

Research similar artists
Start by researching similar artists to find out which playlists they’ve been added to in the past. You can do this by searching for their music on Spotify and taking a look at the playlists that appear under the “Related Artists” section. Alternatively, you can use a service like Playlists.net to research artist placements on Spotify and Apple Music.
Once you’ve found a few similar artists, take a look at the different playlists they’ve been added to and see if there are any common themes. For example, if you’re a rapper, you might notice that most of the artists you researched have been added to hip-hop or R&B playlists. This will give you a good idea of which type of playlists you should be targeting.
Create an account
Before you can start streaming your music on Apple Music, you’ll need to create an account. You can do this by going to the Apple Music website and clicking on the sign-up button. Once you’ve entered your email address and chosen a password, you’ll be able to create your account.

Once you’re signed in, click “For Artists.” If you’re directed to the iTunes Connect homepage, click the arrow next to “iTunes Connect,” then click “For Artists.”
Click “Create New Artist Profile,” then enter your artist or band name. If someone else has an artist profile with the same name, you’ll see a message that says the name is already taken. You can either enter a different name or try adding information that differentiates your profile from the other artist, like an associated label or late member of your band.

Creating an artist account with Apple Music is easy and only takes a few minutes. If you already have an iTunes Connect account, you can use that to sign in. If not, you can create one here.
Once you’re signed in, click “For Artists” at the bottom of the page. On the next page, click “Create Artist Profile.”
You’ll need to provide some basic information about yourself and your music. Once you’ve fill out the form, click “Create.”
From there, you can add your music to your profile. You can also add photos, videos, and show information so fans can keep up with your upcoming shows.

On your Mac:
Open iTunes. From the menu bar at the top of your screen, choose Account > View My Account. Sign in with your Apple ID and password. On the Account Information page under Membership, click “Change.” If you’re signing up for a free trial with an email address that’s already associated with an Apple ID in iCloud, you might see a message that says “This email address is already associated with another Apple ID.”
On your PC:
Open iTunes for Windows and sign in with your Apple ID and password. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Edit > Preferences. Click Accounts and then click “Manage Accounts.” On the next page under Membership, click “Change.” If you’re prompted to sign in again, enter your password and click View Account again. If you’re signing up for a free trial with an email address that’s already associated with an Apple ID in iCloud, you might see a message that says “This email address is already associated with another Apple ID.”
Submit your music

Click Submit Music
Apple Music is always looking for new artists to feature on their platform. If you think your music is ready for prime time, you can submit it directly to Apple Music for consideration.
1. Go to music.apple.com/artists and click Submit Music.
2. Enter your Apple ID and password. If you don’t have an Apple ID, you can create one now.
3. Complete the form with your contact information and artist bio, then click Submit.
4. Once your submission has been reviewed, you’ll receive an email letting you know if your music has been selected for featured placement on Apple Music.

Apple Music is a streaming service that offers access to millions of songs, as well as exclusive content from artists and curators. If you’re an artist or musician who wants to get your music on Apple Music, you can submit it for consideration.
1. Go to music.apple.com/artists in your web browser and log in with your Apple ID. If you don’t have an Apple ID, you can create one at appleid.apple.com.
2. Click on the “My Music” tab and then select “Songs.”
3. Click the “+” sign next to the song you want to submit and then select “Submit.”
4. Enter the title of the song, your name or band name, and the name of the album (if applicable). Then click “Submit.”
Your submission will be reviewed by Apple Music’s editorial team and, if approved, will be added to the streaming service.
