The American Heart Association recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week. But if you’re like most people, you probably don’t think much about how active you are on a day-to-day basis. That’s where apple watch comes in.
If you wear apple watch all day long, it can help track your steps and give you an estimate of the calories you’ve burned. You can also set goals for yourself and see how you’re progressing over time. Here’s how to view and interpret your step data on apple watch
To see your step count on apple watch open the Activity app. Scroll down to the Step Awards section. The number of steps taken today is displayed in large type, with a graphic below it that shows your progress as a percentage of your goal.
If you tap on the graphic, you’ll see more detailed information about your steps for the current day, week, or month. You can also tap on the List button in the top-left corner to see a list of all the days for which step data is available.
When you start using apple watch it’s helpful to set a daily or weekly step goal. This gives you something to aim for and helps you track your progress over time. To set a goal, open the Activity app on your iPhone and tap on the Goals tab. From there, you can set a calorie burn goal or a steps goal.
Your Apple Watch will automatically detect when you’re walking or running and will start tracking your steps accordingly. But if you want more accurate data, you can calibrate your watch by walking a known distance—like around a track or down a city block—while wearing it. Afterward, open the Activity app on your iPhone and tap on Sources > walking + running distance > edit to enter the distance that you walked or ran.
