Coring an apple is a quick process that yields perfectly sliced fruit in just a few minutes. While there are many ways to do it, we think the following method is the easiest and most efficient. All you need is a sharp knife and a cutting board.

Step One: Gather Your Supplies

All you need to core an apple is a sharp knife and a cutting board. If you want to get fancy, you can also use an apple corer, but a knife works just as well.

Step Two: Cut Off the Top and Bottom of the Apple

Cut about 1/2 inch off the top of the apple and 1/2 inch off the bottom. This will give you a flat surface to work with and make it easier to cut through the apple.

Step Three: Slice the Apple in Half

Cut the apple in half from top to bottom. You should now have two halves of an apple with a flat top and bottom.

Step Four: Cut Each Half Into Four Slices

Cut each half of the apple into four equal slices. You should now have eight slices of apple.

Step Five: Cut Out the Core

Use your knife to cut out the core from each slice of apple. You can also use an apple corer for this step if you want.

Step Two: Cut the Apple in Half

Now that the apple is cored, cut it in half using a sharp knife. Be careful not to cut yourself. If the apple is too difficult to cut in half, you can also cut it into quarters.

Step Three: Remove the Core

Once you have the corer in the center of the apple, apply pressure and twist the corer to remove the core from the apple. You may need to wiggle it a bit to get it started, but it should come out relatively easily. If find that the core is stuck, simply remove the corer start over.

Step Four: Repeat with the Other Half

Assuming you’re still holding the apple in one hand with the index finger pointing down into the center of the apple, it’s now time to core the other half of the apple. Simply repeat steps two and three on the other side of the apple and voila! You’ve now cored an entire apple in five easy steps.
