How to Connect Your Apple Watch

Find out how to connect apple watch to your iPhone so you start using all the features of your new device.

Open watch app on your iPhone.

Open the Watch app on your iPhone. If you don’t have an iPhone, you can’t use apple watch

Tap the My Watch tab.

Tap Start Pairing at the bottom of the screen. If you’ve already set up your Apple Watch, you’ll need to erase it before you can use it with a new iPhone.

Tap Continue on your iPhone. If you have an Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), you need to set up your service on your new iPhone before you can use your watch with it. You can transfer your cellular service to a new iPhone from another carrier, or set up cellular service for the first time if your new iPhone is unlocked and not from a carrier.

Tap the My Watch tab.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap the My Watch tab.
If you don’t see the My Watch tab, tap the Watch tab, then tap the My Watch tab.
Tap your watch at the top of the screen.
Tap Pair New Watch.

Tap your watch at the top of the screen.

1. Tap your watch at the top of the screen.
2. Select the “My Watch” tab, then tap ” general.”
3. Tap “Software Update.”
4. Choose “Check for Update.” downloaded the update, then tap “Install.”
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

Tap Pair New Watch.

If you see a screen that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch,” tap Continue. If you don’t see that screen, press and hold the side button, then swipe right and tap the New Watch icon .

Tap Pair New Watch, then follow the onscreen instructions. You might need to enter a passcode on your Apple Watch or on your iPhone.

Position your iPhone so that your watch appears in the viewfinder in the Watch app.

1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
2. Tap Add a Device, then position your iPhone so that your watch appears in the viewfinder in the Watch app.
3. Follow the instructions that appear on your iPhone and watch.

When you see a message that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch,” tap Continue.

If you have an iPhone 6 or later,* the watchOS 6 software update includes new features and tools that require iPhone 6s or later.

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2.tap start pairing on your iPhone. If you’re asked to sign in with apple id do it.
3. Hold your Apple Watch up to your iPhone. A message should say that your phone is searching for your watch. When it finds your watch, tap it in the list.
4. Wait for a message that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch.” Tap Continue, then follow the instructions on your iPhone and watch.

Wait for the animation to appear on your watch face.

As soon as you see the Apple logo and the progress wheel on your watch face, press and hold the side button. The next screen shows the language options for your watch. You can scroll with the Digital Crown or tap a language. Once you’ve selected your language, tap Continue. Then agree to the terms and conditions. If you want to set up cellular service on your new watch, tap Set Up Cellular. If you don’t want to set up cellular service now, tap Skip in the top-left corner, then tap Continue in the bottom-center of the next screen

Tap Set Up Later in the message that appears on your iPhone.

If you’re upgrading from an earlier model of Apple Watch, you might need to enter your Apple ID and password on your iPhone before you can continue.

On your iPhone, open the Watch app. Tap Start Pairing on the screen that says “Welcome to your new Apple Watch.”
Point your iPhone at your watch. A message should appear on your watch face that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch.”
Tap Continue on your iPhone, then hold it next to your watch (back to back) until you see a message that says “Apple Watch is paired.”

After your watch restarts, tap the Language button on your watch face.

You can change the language on your Apple Watch at any time. After you change the language, you need to restart your watch.

Here’s how:

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap General > Language & Region.
3. Tap Custom, then tap a new language.*
4. Restart your watch: For Apple Watch Series 3 or later, press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider, then drag the slider. Wait for 30 seconds, then press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo.*
For Apple Watch Series 1 or 2, press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for about 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.*

Tap your preferred language.

On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.

Tap the My Watch tab, then go to Language.

Tap your preferred language.

If your Apple Watch is already paired with your iPhone, it automatically switches to your new language. If you unpair your devices, you need to set the language on your watch again.

Tap the Country button.

Whether you’re setting up your new Apple Watch for the first time, or you’re switching it to a new iPhone, the process is pretty much the same. Here’s how!

Before you begin, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. On your iPhone, open the Watch app.

Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Add a new watch at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Continue on your iPhone, then wait for a popup on your Apple Watch asking if you want to use your iPhone’s cellular plan.

Tap Set Up Later in Settings, then tap Continue on your iPhone.

If you want to continue setting up your Apple Watch later, just leave your iPhone near your watch and put it on its charger. The setup process will resume automatically when both devices are connected and powered on.

Tap your current country or region, then scroll to choose your new country or region.

If you move to a new country or region, you can update the country or region that’s associated with your Apple ID. When you change your Apple ID country or region, you might be asked to update your billing information and provide a payment method in your new country or region.

Tap the Time Zone button.

On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap General > Date & Time. Turn on Set Automatically. This automatically sets your date and time based on your location.

On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app. Tap General > Date & Time. Tap the Time Zone button.

Tap the city in your current time zone, or tap a city in a different time zone to set a new one.

Tap your current time zone, then scroll to choose your new time zone.

On your iPhone, open the Watch app. Tap the My Watch tab, then scroll to General > Date & Time.

If you turn on Set Automatically, your Apple Watch adjusts for daylight savings time automatically.

With your iPhone, you can also turn on Automatic time zone updates. This feature requires iOS 8 or later and watchOS 3 or later.

If you turn off Set Automatically, you can set your current time zone manually:

Tap your current time zone, then scroll to choose your new time zone.

Tap the Wi-Fi button.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need to connect it to your iPhone so that it has the settings, applications, and data it needs. Make sure that your iPhone is on and near your Apple Watch, then follow these steps:
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then tap Start Pairing > next.
2. Hold your Apple Watch close to your iPhone. A message should appear on your iPhone asking if you want to use your Apple ID for this Apple Watch. Tap Continue, then enter your password. If you don’t have an Apple ID, tap Don’t have an Apple ID or forgot it, then follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Wait for a message that says that your Apple Watch is connect to “Your Carrier” or “iCloud.” If you see a message that says “Set up as new,” tap Restore from Backup, then sign in with the same Apple ID that you used before.

Make sure that Wi-Fi is on, then tap a network.

If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password for the network.
Your Apple Watch should stay connected to Wi-Fi as long as your iPhone is nearby and connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi.

If you’re away from your iPhone, your Apple Watch can connect to certain types of public Wi-Fi networks on its own. These networks include:

Airport
Hotel
Coffee shop
Conference center
When you try to connect to one of these networks, your watch will prompt you to enter the same username and password that you use for your other devices.

If you’re asked for a password, enter it, then tap Join.

If you’re asked for a password, enter it, then tap Join. If you don’t see the option to join a network, your Apple Watch is already connected.

Tap the Agree button to agree to the terms and conditions.

If you have an Apple Watch and you’re setting it up for the first time, you’ll need to pair it with your iPhone. First, make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS, and that your Watch has the latest version of watchOS. To check for updates, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap General, then tap Software Update. On your Watch, open the Settings app, then tap General > Software Update.

Once you’ve updated your devices, follow these steps to start setting up your Apple Watch:

1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap Start Pairing.
2. Hold your iPhone next to your Apple Watch. A message will appear on your iPhone asking you to confirm that you want to pair with your Watch. Tap Continue.
3. If you have an iPhone 6s or later, hold it close to your Apple Watch until you see a message saying that your devices are paired or a passcode appears on screen. If you don’t have an iPhone 6s or later or if you can’t see a message saying that “\*your name\*’s Apple Watch is paired,” enter the passcode on screen instead.
4. Tap Set Up Later in Setup if you want to finish pairiing later, or tap Continue if you want to continue setting up now.

Tap the Accept button to accept the privacy policy.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need to pair it with your iPhone. Follow the instructions below to get started.

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.

2. Tap Start Pairing. If you’ve already set up your Apple Watch but want to pair it with a new iPhone, tap the info button next to your watch’s name, then tap Unpair Watch.

3. Hold your iPhone next to your watch, then wait for a message that says “Watch is Paired!” Once you see this message, you can start using your watch.

Tap Continue on your iPhone, then wait for Activation Lock to appear.

1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
2. Tap Start Pairing on the screen.
3. Hold your Apple Watch close to your iPhone. A message saying “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch” should appear on your iPhone’s screen. If it doesn’t, tap Continue on your iPhone, then wait for Activation Lock to appear.
4. When asked, enter apple id password on your iPhone.
5. Wait while your Apple Watch finishes pairing and downloading apps from youriPhone

Enter your Apple ID password, then tap Unlock.

If you turned off Find My iPhone, you won’t be able to use it to locate your watch.

To set up and start using your Apple Watch, you need an iPhone with the latest version of iOS.

Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, then open the Apple Watch app and follow the instructions.
You might be asked to enter your Apple ID password so that your watch can communicate with your iPhone.
