Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your iPhone. The watch uses these features to connect to your iPhone.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need to pair it with your iPhone. To do so, make sure that your iPhone is running iOS 8.2 or later and that it’s within range of your Apple Watch. Then follow these steps:
1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap Pair New Watch.
3. Hold your Apple Watch close to your iPhone. A message appears on your iPhone asking you to enter a passcode on your Apple Watch.
4. Enter the passcode on your Apple Watch. If you don’t see a passcode field on your Apple Watch, wait for a four-digit number to appear and then enter that number on your iPhone. If asked, enter the six-digit code that appears on your Apple Watch.
5. Tap Continue on your iPhone, then wait for activation to complete.

You’ll now be asked to choose whether you want to set up your watch as new or restore it from a backup. If this is your first Apple Watch, or you don’t have a backup that you want to use, choose Set Up as New. Otherwise, choose Restore from Backup and follow the on-screen instructions.
Once you’ve chosen how to set up your watch, you’ll need to agree to the terms and conditions. Tap Agree on your iPhone and then Agree again on your Apple Watch when prompted. You’ll now be asked to choose whether or not to enable Location Services for certain apps. Choose whether or not to allow access for each app and then tap Continue on your iPhone when you’re done making your selections.
The next step is to decide how you want to unlock your Apple Watch when it’s not on your wrist. You can choose between using a passcode or relying on Face ID or Touch ID (if you have an iPhone with one of these features). Choose an unlocking method and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
Language options include English (U.S.), English (UK), French (France), German, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.
After you select a language, tap the Next button. If you have an iPhone 6 or later, you can use its built-in NFC to pair your Apple Watch with it. Just hold your iPhone next to your Apple Watch and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you’ve just unpacked your brand new Apple Watch, congratulations! Whether this is your first Apple Watch or you’re upgrading from an older model, the process of setting up your new wearable is relatively painless. In fact, if you’ve ever set up an iPhone, much of the process will look very familiar.
The first thing you’ll need to do is put your Apple Watch on its included charger and make sure that it has at least 50% battery life. Tap Continue on both devices when you see a message that says that your devices are paired. On your Apple Watch, you might need to enter a passcode.
Tap Agree if you want to send diagnostics and usage data to Apple.
