How to Connect Your Apple Watch to a New Phone

You’ll need to unpair your watch from your current iPhone before you can pair it with a new one. Here’s how!

Open watch app on your new iPhone.

If you recently upgraded to a new iPhone, you’ll need to connect apple watch to your new device. Here’s how:

Open the Watch app on your new iPhone. If you don’t see the Watch app, touch and hold the Home screen, then swipe left until you find it.

Tap the watch tab then tap your watch at the top of the screen.

Tap Pair New Watch. If you don’t see Pair New Watch, tap My Watch, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

Tap the My Watch tab.

To set up and use apple watch you need an iPhone with the latest version of iOS. WatchOS 6 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 1 and later.

To set up your Apple Watch, you need to pair it with your iPhone. Follow these steps to do so:

1. Make sure that your iPhone is powered on and within range of your Apple Watch.
2. Tap the My Watch tab.
3.start Pairing on your iPhone. A four-digit code appears on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
4. Enter the four-digit code on your Apple Watch when prompted.
5. Follow the instructions on your iPhone and Apple Watch to finish setting up your device.

Tap your watch at the top of the screen.

If you see a screen that says, “Tap to set up your Apple Watch,” tap it. You might need to enter apple id and password.

If you see a screen that asks for your iPhone passcode, enter it. If you don’t know your passcode, tap Forgot passcode, then follow the instructions on your iPhone.

Tap Allow to let the Apple Watch app access your iPhone’s location. Tap Set Up Later in the message that asks permission to use your location. You can change this later in the Watch app on your iPhone:

Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
Tap Privacy > Location Services.
Turn on Location Services.

When you get to the “Choose Language” page, pick a language, then tap Next. On the “Choose Country or Region” page, pick a country or region, then tap Next.

Tap Pair New Watch.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, choose a language. Otherwise, if you’ve already set up your Apple Watch, make sure that it’s unlocked and on the Home screen.

Tap Pair New Watch, then wait for a music note icon and an animation to appear on your new iPhone. Hold your new iPhone close to your Apple Watch, then wait for an image of an Apple Watch and a Viewfinder to appear on your new iPhone. If asked, enter the passcode on your Apple Watch.

Position your iPhone over your watch.

With your old iPhone and your new iPhone nearby, open the Apple Watch app on your new iPhone. Then wait for a card to appear on your new iPhone that says “Use your old iPhone to set up this iPhone.”

Tap Continue, then place your new iPhone over your old one. An image of an Apple Watch appears on the screen of your old iPhone.

When you see the message “Position your iPhone over your watch,” line up the viewfinder on your oldiPhone with the Apple Watch face displayed on your new one. If you have an Apple Watch (1st generation), make sure that you position it close to the top of the screen of your new iPhone.

When you see the animation and SMS start to appear, press Continue on both iPhones.

Wait for a message that says “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch.”

If you’re moving to a new iPhone, you can bring your Apple Watch with you. Just unpair it from your current iPhone first. Here’s how:

1. On your current iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap your watch at the top of the screen.
3. Tap the info button , tap unpair apple watch
4. Wait for the process to finish, then choose to keep or remove your watch data.
5. If you have an LTE Apple Watch, choose to set up cellular later or transfer your plan to your new iPhone now.
6. Tap Done, then follow the instructions on your iPhone to set up your new device.

Tap Continue.

On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. If you don’t have the Apple Watch app, download it from the App Store.
Tap Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Tap Restore from Backup.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, choose a backup from your iPhone. If you’re setting up a new Apple Watch and you’ve already set up an iPhone with iCloud, your apps and settings are automatically transferred to your new device.

1. On your new iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap Restore from Backup, then sign in to iCloud.*
3. Choose a backup, then wait for content to restore.

*If you’re asked for a passcode on your Apple Watch, enter the one you use on your iPhone.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, you’ll need to choose a backup. This will allow you to restore your watch from a previous backup if necessary. There are two ways to do this: iCloud and iTunes. If you have an iCloud backup of your old iPhone, you can use this to set up your new watch. If you don’t have an iCloud backup, or if you prefer to use iTunes, you can use iTunes to back up and restore your watch.

Wait for the process to finish.

Your new iPhone and your Apple Watch should now be connected. If you’re setting up your Apple Watch for the first time, you’ll need to wait for the process to finish before you can use it.
