If you’re looking for a way to use your iPhone in the car, Apple CarPlay is a great option. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to connect your iPhone to Apple CarPlay.
Checkout this video:
Open your iPhone’s Settings.
It’s a grey icon with cogs on it. You’ll find it on home screen
Tap General. It’s near the bottom of the list.
Scroll down and tap CarPlay. It’s under the “DO NOT DISTURB” heading near the bottom of the page. If you don’t see CarPlay listed here, your car doesn’t support CarPlay.
Tap Add a New Car if you don’t see your car listed. If you do see your car listed, skip to the next step.
Tap your car’s name when it appears on-screen. This will open a new page with information about CarPlay in your vehicle.
Scroll down tap general
If your car supports CarPlay using the USB port, plug your iPhone into the USB port of your car or stereo. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon.
If you can’t find the CarPlay icon, check your car’s manual to see if Carplay is supported and how to turn it on.
If your car doesn’t support CarPlay, you might be able to use a Bluetooth connection.
To turn on Bluetooth, open Settings and tap Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth.
Tap CarPlay.
CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone while you drive. To manage your CarPlay settings, tap the CarPlay icon on your iPhone home screen, then tap the Settings icon.
If you don’t see CarPlay in your settings, make sure that your car supports CarPlay and that you have the latest version of iOS.
To use CarPlay, you need an iPhone that’s 5 or later with the latest version of iOS.
Tap the name of your car. If you don’t see your car, make sure that your car is compatible with CarPlay and that Siri is turned on.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Siri & Search. Turn on Siri & Search. If asked, choose how you want to use “Hey Siri.”
Connect your iPhone to your car:
If you have an iPhone with a Lightning connector, plug it into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon. If you have an iPhone with a 30-pin connector, plug it into the 30-pin port in your car. You might see a CarPlay logo or “Made for iPod” logo next to the port.
If you can’t find an obvious port, check your car’s manual. Or ask your dealer if your car has CarPlay.
Make sure thatStevens Point is turned on in Control Center: On an iPhone with iOS 11 or later, go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then tap next to “Screen Recording.”
If prompted, enter your car’s passcode.
If you see a message that says “Trust This Computer?” on your iPhone, tap Trust. If you’re asked for a passcode, enter the code that appears on your car’s display.
After you connect your iPhone, it might show a dialog asking if you’d like to Use Location Services. CarPlay uses location services to find destinations and help forecast traffic conditions. You can also use Siri to get turn-by-turn directions, find points of interest, and more.
If you see this message and want to use CarPlay with location services later, you can go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services on your iPhone.
Your iPhone will now be connected to your car’s infotainment system.
Assuming your car supports CarPlay and you have an iPhone 5 or newer, the first thing you’ll need to do is make sure your phone is running iOS 7.1 or higher. To check this, open settings app on your iPhone and tap on General > About. The version number next to Software Version should begin with 7.1.
Once you’ve made sure you’re running iOS 7.1 or higher, fire up your car, connect your iPhone to the head unit using a Lightning cable, and the CarPlay interface should pop up automatically on the display. If it doesn’t, find the CarPlay logo on your head unit and give it a tap.
