Open settings app on your iPad.

Apple Pencil batteries are designed to last a long time, but they eventually need to be replaced. If you’re not sure about the condition of your Pencil’s battery, you can check it in settings app on your iPad. Here’s how:

1. Open settings app on your iPad.
2. Tap “Bluetooth.”
3. Under “My Devices,”find your Apple Pencil and tap the info button (i) next to it.
4. You should see your Pencil’s battery level under “Battery.” If you don’t see this option, tap “Edit” and turn on the “Battery” switch.

Keep in mind that checking your Pencil’s battery level this way only works if it’s currently paired with your iPad. If it’s not paired, you can still check the battery level by connecting it to your iPad and opening the Apple Pencil Settings panel in the Apple Pencil app.

Tap on Battery.

Select the Settings icon on your iPad.
Tap on Battery.
Check the percentage next to “Apple Pencil.”

You’ll see your Apple Pencil’s battery level under the list of apps.

You can check your Apple Pencil’s battery level at any time using the Batteries widget on your iPad.* Here’s how:

1. Swipe right on your home screen to open the Today view.
2. Scroll down to the Batteries widget and tap it.
3. You’ll see your Apple Pencil’s battery level under the list of apps.
