How to Check the Battery of Your Apple Pencil (Gen 1)

Open settings app on your iPad.

Open settings app on your iPad.
Select Bluetooth.
If your Apple Pencil doesn’t appear under My Devices, make sure that Bluetooth is on and then tap the search button .
Your Apple Pencil will appear under My Devices when it’s connected. The Battery widget shows you the battery level of your Apple Pencil.

Tap on Bluetooth.

To check the battery of your Apple Pencil (1st generation), remove the cap and unscrew the metal tip. Apple Pencil will enter Bluetooth Low Energy mode and you’ll see a battery indicator on your iPad Pro.

If you don’t see the battery indicator, tap Settings > Bluetooth, then tap the information button next to Apple Pencil.

Look for your Apple Pencil under the My Devices section.

Your Apple Pencil (1st generation) has a built-in, non-removable battery that charges quickly and lasts for a long time. If you want to check the battery level of your Apple Pencil, follow these steps:

1. On your iPad, tap settings app
2. Tap Bluetooth.
3. Look for your Apple Pencil under the My Devices section.
4. The battery level of your Apple Pencil is next to its name.

If your Apple Pencil is connected, you’ll see the battery level next to it.

If your Apple Pencil is connected, you’ll see the battery level next to it. If it’s not connected, or if it hasn’t been used recently, might need to pair it before you can check the battery level.

To pair your Apple Pencil (1st generation), make sure that Bluetooth is turned on, then remove the cap and insert the Apple Pencil into the Lightning connector on your iPad. Tap the Pair button when prompted.
