How Much Does Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple Inc. that lets users make payments in person, in iOS apps, and on the web. It was designed to replace the credit and debit card chip and PIN or magnetic stripe transaction at point-of-sale terminals. Apple Pay does not require Apple Pay-specific contactless payment terminals; it works with any merchant that accepts contactless payments.
In the United States, Apple Pay support was initially limited to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as the iPhone SE, which was released in early 2016. The iPhone 5S and 5C were added in October 2014 with the release of iOS 8.1, followed by iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and later models of those devices in early 2015. The service is also available on apple watch and Macs with Touch ID starting with macOS Sierra. Support for iPad Pro, iPad Mini 4 and iPad Air 2 was added in September 2016 with the release of iOS 10. Support for iPhone 7, 7 Plus and later models was added in September 2016 with the release of iOS 10
In May 2016, Square announced an expansion of its partnership with Apple to bring Apple Pay support to all eligible credit and debit cards processed through its point-of-sale app.
