If you’re using a MagSafe or Qi-certified wireless charger, it will take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to charge apple watch Series 6 from 0 to 100 percent. If you’re using a USB-C charger and cable, it will take between 2.5 and 3 hours.

Apple Watch Series 1

One of the headline features is built-in cellular support, meaning you can use the watch without having your iPhone with you.Series 3 models also include an updated W2 chip for better performance and efficiency, a barometric altimeter for tracking elevation, and an improved speaker that’s 50% louder than Series 2.
Charging times for the Series 3 Apple Watch vary depending on the model. For the 38mm GPS model, it takes 1.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, while the 42mm GPS model takes 2 hours. For the 38mm GPS + Cellular model, it takes 2.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, while the 42mm GPS + Cellular model takes 3 hours.

Why Does It Take So Long to Charge an Apple Watch?

The first thing to understand is that the Apple Watch has a much smaller battery than your iPhone. While the iPhone 6s has a 1,715 mAh battery, the 38mm Apple Watch has a 205 mAh battery, and the 42mm Apple Watch has a 246 mAh battery. That means that the Apple Watch’s battery is only about 12% the size of the iPhone 6s’ battery.
In addition, the Apple Watch uses a different type of charging cable than your iPhone. The Lightning cable that comes with your iPhone can output 2.4 amps of power, while the Magnetic Charging Cable that comes with your Apple Watch can only output 0.5 amps of power.
So why does it take so long to charge an Apple Watch? There are two reasons: first, because the battery is so much smaller, and second, because the charging cable is slower.
Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to speed up the charging process. First, make sure that you’re using the Magnetic Charging Cable that came with your Apple Watch; using a different type of cable will not speed up the charging process. Second, try using an iPad charger; iPad chargers output 2.1 amps of power, which is slightly faster than the standard iPhone charger. Finally, if you really need to speed up the charging process, you can purchase an aftermarket charger that outputs 3 amps or more; these chargers are usually marketed as “fast chargers” or “quick chargers.”

If you’re using the included Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable and 5W USB Power Adapter, then you’re good to go. No need to buy anything else. Just make sure that you’re connected to a power source that can deliver at least 1 amp (like a standard iPhone charger).
Keep Your Apple Watch and Charging Cable Clean
One of the easiest and most overlooked ways to ensure your Apple Watch charges quickly is to keep the contacts clean. The contacts on both the back of your watch and on the Magnetic Charging Cable can build up with grime and debris over time, which can impede the flow of electricity.
To clean your watch contacts, simply wipe them down with a soft, lint-free cloth. If there is any stubborn buildup, you can use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to gently remove it. Be sure not to use any abrasive materials when cleaning your watch, as this could scratch the surface.
As for the charging cable, you can clean it with a toothbrush (or other brush) just like you would any other cable. Again, be sure to use a gentle motion and avoid any abrasive cleaners, as they could damage the wire coating.
Use a High-Wattage USB Port
If you’re using the stock Apple Watch charger and a USB 2.0 port, you might be expecting slower charging speeds. To combat this, plug the charger into a higher wattage USB port if available. A standard USB 2.0 port provides 0.5 watts of power, while a USB 3.0 port can provide up to 0.9 watts. If you’re using a Mac, the USB ports on the back of your computer are typically USB 3.0 ports.
