Before you begin
Make sure that you have a rescue email address set up with Apple. A rescue email address is an alternate email address that you provide when you set up your Apple ID. 4. Select “I need to reset my password,” then click Continue.

-Get an email: An email with instructions will be sent to the email address associated with your Apple ID.
-Answer security questions: If you’ve previously set up security questions, you can answer them to reset your password.*

To reset your password using the web, head to Apple’s iForgot website and enter your Apple ID. You’ll be asked to enter the phone number or email address associated with your Apple ID so that Apple can send you a verification code. Once you’ve entered the code, you’ll be able to create a new password for your Apple ID.

How to Change Your Apple ID Password

On a Mac
If you’re signed in to iCloud and have a valid recovery key, you can change your password from the password Reset Options screen.
1. Click Security & Privacy.
2. Click Change Password.
3. Enter your new password, then enter it again to verify.
4. If you have a recovery key, enter it when prompted.
On a PC
Open iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, click Account > View My Account. Enter your password, then press the Return or Enter key on your keyboard, or click View Account. On the Account Information page, scroll to the Security section. To the right of “Account Security,” click Edit. Under “Two-Step Verification” or “Two-Factor Authentication,” select Turn Off. If you’re asked for a verification code, either don’t enter one or enter an incorrect code on purpose three times.
