Adding a Credit or Debit Card to Apple Pay
To use Apple Pay, you need to add a credit or debit card to the Wallet app on your iPhone or iPad. If you’re using an iPhone, you can also add your card to Apple Watch.
If you’re using iOS 10.1 or later and you added a card to Wallet on your iPhone, open Wallet on your iPad and tap Settings > Default Card. Then, choose the card that you want to use for Apple Pay.

Using Apple Pay
Apple Pay is a secure and easy way to make payments using your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. If you’re using one of these devices and you see the Apple Pay logo or a contactless payment terminal, you can pay with Apple Pay. Here’s how:

Apple Pay Security
When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on your device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in iPhone and iPad. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.
Your full card number is never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment. And when you pay, your card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants. In addition, paying in stores or within apps doesnt require Wi-Fi, so if you cant make a call, you can still pay.
To use Apple Pay in stores, hold your iPhone up to the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. A subtle vibration lets you know that your payment information was successfully sent. You dont even need to look at the screen to know its done. If prompted for a PIN or signiture after paying, you can complete the transaction just like you would by swiping or dipping your card.
When shopping in apps or on websites in Safari on iPhone and iPad, look for the Apple Pay button or choose Apple Pay as your payment method at checkout. Confirm your payment with Touch ID or Face ID on iPhone or iPad, or double-click the side button and glance at your iPhone X to authenticate with Face ID.
