How to Use Apple Pay at a Store

Apple Pay is a great way to pay for things at stores that support it. Here’s a quick guide on how use apple pay at a store.

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone. If you have an iPhone X or later, you can use Face ID; if you have an iPhone 8 or earlier, you’ll use Touch ID.

Tap the plus sign .

Follow the steps to add a card. You can add your credit, debit, or prepaid cards from your bank or card issuer to Wallet. If you’re asked to add the card that you use with apple id cards on other devices, or cards that you’ve recently removed, choose them, then enter the card security code.

Tap Next. After your bank or issuer verifies your card, tap Next. start using Apple Pay.
Some cards might require additional information from your bank or issuer to verify your card.

Select the card you’d like to use.

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone, then tap the card you’d like to use. If you’re apple watch double-click the side button, then select the card you want to use.

Position your iPhone within an inch of the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. Or hold apple watch near the reader with your wrist down and double-click the side button.
A subtle vibration and beep indicates that your payment was successful.

Hold your iPhone near the contactless reader.

Apple Pay is easy and works with the devices you use every day. Whether you’re buying a coffee, groceries, or a new pair of shoes, just look for the contactless symbol or Apple Pay mark. Then hold your iPhone near the reader. To pay with Touch ID, place your finger on the Home button. To pay with Face ID, double-click the Side button then glance at your iPhone. You don’t even need to wake up your iPhone to pay.

If you’re asked to sign a receipt or enter your PIN, it means that the store doesn’t accept contactless payments. In this case, you can use your default card by holding it near the reader.

Authorize the payment with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

To pay in stores with your iPhone or Apple Watch, you must first set up Apple Pay on the device. If you have an iPhone 8 or later, you can use apple pay in apps and on websites in Safari. You can add multiple credit and debit cards to Apple Pay, including cards from American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

At the store, hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. Or, on iPhone 8 or later, double-click the side button, then glance at your iPhone to authenticate with Face ID. You might need to sign a receipt or enter your PIN.

If you’re paying with an Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold the display of your watch within a few centimeters of the contactless reader.Wait for Done and a checkmark on the display.

Look for the done checkmark on the display. If you don’t see it, try again.

When you’re ready to pay, hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. A done checkmark on the display means your payment was successful. If you don’t see the checkmark, try again.

If you’re using an iPhone 6 or later, you can use apple pay in some apps. Look for the Apple Pay button or choose Apple Pay as your payment method at checkout. Be sure to confirm that your billing, shipping, and contact information are correct.

If you’re paying with your default card and you see Contactless Payment or Apple Pay on your receipt, you might need to sign a receipt or enter your PIN.
