Setting Up Apple Pay
In order use apple pay you will first need to set it up. This process is simple and only takes a few minutes. You will need to have an iPhone 6 or later in order use apple pay If you do not have an iPhone 6, you can use apple pay by adding it to your iPad.
Add a Credit or Debit Card to Apple Pay
Whether you’re using Apple Pay at the register or sending money to a friend through iMessage, you’ll need to add a credit or debit card to use the service.
If you’re using an iPhone that’s running iOS 11.2 or later, open the Wallet app and tap the plus sign in the upper-right corner. If you’re using an iPhone 6s or earlier, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Settings app and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
On devices without Touch ID, you might need to enter your passcode before you can add a card. Then follow these steps:
1. Tap Add Card.
2. If you’re using a supported US-based bank card, choose it from the list of cards that appears and follow the instructions on your screen to activate it for Apple Pay.* Otherwise, continue these instructions.
3. Use your iPhone camera to enter your card information or type it in manually; then tap Next.
4. Depending on your bank card issuer and whether you already use this card for Apple Pay, you might see one of these options:**
* Set up as new Apple Pay card: You might need to enter additional information from your bank card; then tap Next.
* Verify with Bank: You might need to provide additional information about yourself so that we may verify your identity with your bank; then tap Next.
* Set Up Later: This allows you to temporarily put off verifying your identity with your bank until after you’ve added all of the cards that you want to use with Apple Pay; then tap Next. You can come back later and complete verification by opening Wallet and tapping .
5*. When asked if this is the device that you want to use with this card, tap Continue.*
If asked, enter the security code that’s printed on your credit or debit card; then click Done.*
If prompted by Apple Cash***, choose whether or not to set it up now when asked “Would like to Set Up Apple Cash?” and click Continue.*
Set Up Apple Pay Cash
To get started, open the Settings app and tap “Wallet & Apple Pay.” Then, tap “Apple Pay Cash” and follow the instructions on-screen. If you don’t see Apple Pay Cash in your settings, make sure that you’re using iOS 11.2 or later on your iPhone or iPad.
Assuming that you’re all set up, sending money to someone is as easy as opening a message in the Messages app and tapping the “$” sign. From there, just enter the amount of money that you want to send and hit “Pay.” The recipient will get a notification asking them to accept the payment, which they can do by simply tapping “Accept.” And that’s it!
