How to Pair Your Apple Watch

Learn how to pair your apple watch with your iPhone in a few simple steps.

Open watch app on your iPhone.

If you’re setting up your first Apple Watch, or you’ve just updated to watchOS 6, follow these steps to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone.

– First, make sure that your iPhone is running iOS 13 or later and that it’s in range of your Apple Watch. Then open the Watch app on your iPhone.
– Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Pair New Watch.
– If you’re asked to set a passcode for your watch, do it. This helps protect your data if your watch is lost or stolen.
– Wait while the software on your watch updates. When the update is done, you might need to enter apple id and password on your watch.
– Follow the instructions on your iPhone and Apple Watch. For example, you might need to hold your Apple Watch close to your iPhone or position it on its charger.

After you pair and set up your Apple Watch, you can customize the settings in the Watch app and start using apps.

If you see a message that says your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone, unpair your devices, then pair them again.

On your iPhone, open the Watch app. Go to the My Watch tab, then tap General > Language. Tap the language that you want to use on your Apple Watch.

Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi turned on and are in range of each other. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app. On your iPad, open the Settings app.

Hold your iPhone next to your watch, then wait for an animation to appear on your watch face. When you see the Apple logo and paired successfully message, tap Continue. You might need to enter a passcode.

If you can’t pair or you see a different message, try these steps:
– Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS.
– On your iPhone, open the Watch app. If you have trouble pairing, unpair your devices and try again.
– Check that Bluetooth is turned on both on your iPhone and in Control Center.
– If you’re trying to pair with an iOS device that uses Personal Hotspot mode to share its cellular data connection with other devices, connect your devices to a different Wi-Fi network instead.

Choose whether to enable Location Services.

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.

Tap Privacy > Location Services.

Turn Location Services on or off.

When Location Services is off, apps can’t use your location in the background or when you’re not using them, and may not be able to provide you with information based on your current location. For example, turn off Location Services to prevent tracking your location, except for the Find my Friends app, which needs location information in order to provide its services. You might also want to turn off Location Services if battery life is an issue.

Choose whether to restore from a backup, then tap Continue.

If you chose to restore from a backup, you need to choose the backup that you want to use. If you have an encrypted iTunes backup, you need to enter the password.

Choose whether to enable location services. Then tap Set Up as New Apple Watch or Restore from Backup.

Tap Set Up as New Apple Watch.

Before you begin, download the latest version of watchOS and make sure that your iPhone is running iOS 8.2 or later.

To set up your Apple Watch, you need to pair it with your iPhone. Make sure that both devices are nearby and that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.

1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap Start Pairing on your iPhone.

4. Wait for your Apple Watch to appear in the list of devices, then tap it.
5. If you’re asked for a passcode, enter the passcode on your Apple Watch or iPhone. If you don’t have a passcode, tap Passcode Options and choose one that you can remember.
6. Unless you have an LTE model, choose to Set Up Cellular later.
7. If you want to receive notifications from your iPhone on your Watch, turn on Allow Notifications.* You can change this later in the Settings app on your Apple Watch: Go to Settings > Notifications > Mirror my iPhone.*
8. You might be prompted to restore data from a backup.* You can do this later from the Apple Watch app on your iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.*
9. Tap Agree to the Terms and Conditions.* Read them carefully, then tap Agree twice when asked if you agree.*
10. Pick a language for your watch, then tap Customize Features so you can choose which features to use and download apps later.* You can turn some features off if you don’t want to use them now.*

Tap Agree if you want to receive notifications about the latest Apple Watch features and updates.

Tap Continue.

Keep your iPhone close to your Apple Watch as you set it up. When you see the message “Use your iPhone to set up this Apple Watch,” tap Continue. Follow the prompts on your iPhone and watch.

Tap Set Up Later in Settings if you don’t want to set up your payment information now. Or tap Set Up Now.

You can set up your Apple Watch without a iPhone or WiFi connection. This is calledOffline mode, and it’s useful if you’re going to be without your iPhone during your run or while traveling.

If you have an LTE Apple Watch, you can set up your watch without an iPhone at all. You will need to have an LTE data plan, and you’ll be able to do everything that you can do with an iPhone-connected watch.

If you have a non-LTE Apple Watch, such as the Series 3, you can still use many features of the watch while away from your phone. However, you won’t be able to use features that require an Internet connection, such as sending and receiving email or messages, using Maps, or downloading apps.
