How to reset your Apple Watch

There are two ways to reset your Apple Watch: a soft reset and a hard reset. A soft reset simply turns the device off and back on again, similar to restarting your iPhone. This is usually enough to fix any software glitches that might be causing your Apple Watch to act up. If a soft reset doesn’t do the trick, you can try a hard reset. This will erase all data from your Apple Watch and restore it to its factory settings.

To soft reset your Apple Watch, press and hold the side button until you see the slider appear on the screen. Drag the slider to the right to power off your watch. Once it’s off, press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo appear.

If you need to hard reset your watch, there are a few different methods you can try depending on what model you have. For all models except for the Series 3, press and hold both the side button and the Digital Crown simultaneously for 10 seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear. For the Series 3, you’ll need to first put your watch into Emergency SOS mode by pressing and holding both the side button and a volume button simultaneously for three seconds. Then, continue holding both buttons down as you slide the SOS emergency call slider to the right. Once that’s done, release both buttons and then press and hold just the side button for 10 seconds or until you see an Apple logo appear
